I thought calicoes could be male, they were just likely to be sterile if so.

I'm just going on Wikipedia here. 
But now that you mention it, I'm trying to remember if I've ever seen a cat with three or more colors in their fur. Other than tabbies with different shades and calicoes (which are usually female, or so Wikipedia tells me) I don't think I have.

I'm no expert, but those appear to be calicoes and tabbies, just like I mentioned in my post.
