Re: The Needlehole Mysteries [3]
In your defence I think the story has been headed in that direction for quite a while.

What about the
line.“Well, that’s not fair,” Eldo broke in “anyone would go gay for Ringo”. wrote:

Things have gone from bad to worse here since you retired to Little Forumshire, Odo - badder to worser in fact!

Have you noticed all the new interlopers, Orwell? Never would have happened under Odo's watch. Yanks and Fjordlandians. No wonder he retreated behind his own boundaries, which nobody can see but him.

That is actually the last one I read, which is probably why it stuck in my mind.
Part 17 of the second one I think it was. (Had to look that up though.)

There was a time when Odo tried to stop interlopers at the border... Now there's no effort made at all. I mean - all these Fjordianlandians. The tip of the iceberg, I say.halfwise wrote:Have you noticed all the new interlopers, Orwell? Never would have happened under Odo's watch. Yanks and Fjordlandians. I get the somewhat uneasy feeling that Orwell's pushing of the bar with The Firefox has led to a loosening of moral standards throughout the Creative Corner.

actually re-reading some of it... there is some gold there by amarië and i am putting it in a spoiler just in case i don't read them in order (it's from partBluebottle wrote:That is actually the last one I read, which is probably why it stuck in my mind.

- Amarië work-a-hobbit part 8 wrote:“I don’t need looking after, I am not your pet!”
Amarië face darkened. “Don’t you take that tone with me, Sargent. Without me you would be hardly more than skin and bones!”
With deep indignation, he jumped out of his chair, pulled his shirt over his head and struck out his arms to make his point clear. “See? I’m fine. No need to for you worry!”
The ambassador slowly leaned back in her chair, adjusting her glasses slightly.
“Well well, seems I was mistaken yet again. You do look fine indeed.”
Ringo looked at the ambassador’s crooked smile, then he looked down at himself. He put his hands on his sides, his fingers tapped restlessly on his hips while he tried really hard to stay mad.
“I cannot believe I took the bait on that one.”

I also thought his rather affectionate view of Eldos performance at Mrs Figgs (double squidding? ) was a bit foreshadowing of your last instalement.

Oh, I see I have missed a few posts here. In our defense it was Eldo who started with the shirt ripping, we simply haven't recoverd yet.

Re: The Needlehole Mysteries [3]
Oh. If that was directed at my post, don't worry Amarïe. I don't think I meant any of the that as a criticism really. Actually it's probably part of what makes you and Norcs stories such an enjoyable read.
And yes. I think Eldo, for all his blushings, will willingly admit that a lot of the themes you explore have their basis right there in his original stories.

Re: The Needlehole Mysteries [3]
Honestly, the homoerotic stuff only started because I wanted to make a joke about the dual meaning of queer. The Needlehole stories have evolved considerably since the beginning though, both in my writing and especially in the fanfics.
But now Ringo and I are stuck with a slash ship attached to our names because of my weakness for puns.

Re: The Needlehole Mysteries [3]
I don't think you should mind Eldo. It's great how certain stories seem to start living their own life after a while.
The fact that yours has grown to such proportions and diversity from the base your original basic story tells all the more of it's quality.

Re: The Needlehole Mysteries [3]
Thanks Blue. I am very pleased (and honored) at how the Needlehole stories have grown. I took inspiration from other people when it started, too. Most of the characters are (loosely) based on various forum personas, but I was also greatly influenced by the Wholesome Tales and their spinoff, Nuwest Who. I made myself the main character because it seemed presumptuous at the time to spend too much time inside the head of someone else's character, but Ringo became the second main character because of the "wholesome" tale where Ringo and I are a pair of vagrant molesting trolls.
Re: The Needlehole Mysteries [3]
I guess I owe you my thanks for saving my reputation, Eldo

Re: The Needlehole Mysteries [3]
That's interesting to hear, Eldo. You've certainly created a world that has inspired a lot of people to start contributing with some writing.
I'm apparently being written fanfiction next. Which will be interesting. Though judging by the impression I seem to have made on Orwell, maybe I should have some trepidations.
