Re: the hobbit hangout
I even acknowledged the third party content, and the video still works for me, so how am I supposed to know that others can't see it? Stupid youtube and it's copyright algorithms.

Re: the hobbit hangout
Yeah, I can't watch either video. Thanks for trying though, bungo! You'd think WB would be okay with people spreading their marketing material around (though I doubt a human being made the decision to take it down).
Re: the hobbit hangout
I'll probably see it in the early afternoon on opening day, so that's nine more days for me.
Re: the hobbit hangout
I was thinking about trying to do the midnight release this year, but then my work schedule for that week got posted and I'm doing opening shifts on both Friday and Saturday, so no way am I staying up for a night showing. Last year I skipped the midnight release due to finals. Actually, the only midnight release I've ever been to was the final HP movie (since it was the last ever). Maybe I'll request time off next year so I can go to the midnight release of the last ever Middle-earth movie.
Interestingly, the LOTR movies all came out on Wednesdays in the US, but The Hobbit is set for all Friday releases. Friday is the more common day here. I wonder if they made this decision in order to contest the December opening weekend record. For obvious reasons, a movie makes more in its first weekend if it hasn't already been playing for two days.

Re: the hobbit hangout
the hobbit comes out on all wednesdays here, well, night to wednesday it's kinda stupid... in the middle of the week and all but whatever
Re: the hobbit hangout
It's the week before my finals this year, and the only time I think I can see is the Midnight showing! I'm trying to see if my friend with a car will go with me. I'd be staying up until two anyway, in fact I stay up until two regularly, so it shouldn't be a problem!

Re: the hobbit hangout
I'm not saying don't go, but the film isn't going to end until after 3 AM, plus driving time to get home.
Re: the hobbit hangout
I remember seeing the first LotR movie at 3 in the morning. Mostly because me and my friend decided we were definitely not sitting out in the cold for two weeks to get tickets to the premier. So went down on the day they released the tickets and got tickets for the second or third showing. And without spending a minute in queue.
It's a bit of an added experience with the night showing. The staying up and everything defnitely gives you an added adrenalin buzz.

If I go, I will have plenty of time to catch up on sleep the next day. The glory of naps!!

Re: the hobbit hangout
That doesn't sound too bad. It sounds very different from Oslo though. I had a friend ( a different one) who camped out for 2 or 3 weeks for three years in a row to get premier tickets to the LotR movies in Oslo. And in late November at that.Norc wrote:i didn't queue at all i just went there after school on the day they started selling tickets. the movie won't be finished until 3, but i am not expecting to be back in bed until around 4 :Dand school starts 10.05 the day after so i can sleep a bit longer ^^
You know, I do envy you the anticipation you have for these movies. I wish I could look forward to them in the same way.

Re: the hobbit hangout
The people who camp out for weeks on end ... do they actually live on a sidewalk in front of a movie theatre for two weeks? Like, how are they able to just drop everything in order to do that? (Even assuming that it would be desirable.)
Re: the hobbit hangout
I'm not really sure Eldo.
I think they have a list where people are written down in the number of their arrival. And I think maybe just one from each group has to stay there at any time in the beggining, the people staying there the longest being quite a tight knit comunity. Though they all have to sleep there. In the last week as more people start showing up I think they need to stay there at all times. And this went on in November as I said, which is pretty cold here.
I definitely remember there being some days missing from school for the person in question.

Re: the hobbit hangout
Must be nice to be able to put your life on hold so you can live in front of a movie theatre.
Re: the hobbit hangout
Not saying they're losers, just that they're lucky to be in positions (whether it's with school or work) where they can afford to take two weeks vacation just like that.
Re: the hobbit hangout
I always thought it a bit much as well. If I had the ability to take two weeks off I would certainly not spend them on a freezing sidewalk. And that's a freezing sidewalk in Oslo, not Tromsø.
This person also went in for the larp thing as well, which probably a lot of the people camping out did. Still she was quite nice.
