What movies will come after The Hobbit?

Hey everyone,

I'm new to this forum! I found this forum via a Google search.

I wasn't sure where to ask my questions, so I'm asking in this Hobbit section.

Does anyone know if there will be or will not be any future movies after all 3 parts of The Hobbit? If so, what future films will take place after The Hobbit, and will Peter Jackson be directing the future movies as well?

Also, what similar movies does everyone watch when not watching Lord Of The Rings and/or The Hobbit?

well, i doubt there's gonna be much more tolkien, maybe som silmarrillion ones, but it's unlikely ..

Its unlikely there will be any future works based on other writings.
Its a matter of copyright. The Tolkien Estate holds the rights to the rest of the writings and for the foreseeable future do not look likley to sell them.
However it is conceivable at some point the rights to TH and LotR's might be sold on and we might get another (hopefully more faithful) adaptation.

hmm...... harry potter, trainspotting, star trek, eeeh... district nine, you know what, i like pretty much everything, i watch a lot of movies... hard to say... like, on the top of my head.

Hi php, welcome to Forumshire! As has been said it's unlikely that there will be more Middle-earth movies after The Hobbit because of the legal situation. It is possible that Peter Jackson will attempt to make a bridge movie or movies connected the Hobbit and LOTR trilogies, but I find this to be an unlikely scenario.

I watch a fair number of movies but honestly not a ton of sci-fi/fantasy. I think Princess Mononoke is probably my favorite non-Tolkien fantasy movie. Or maybe The Princess Bride. Both are great. I also love Star Wars, as many of the people here can attest.

A full blown animated version would be great. Less cost but the hope of a faithful adaptation. Wouldn't it be love-elee.

I admire The Truth's ability to talk on CC's level. It's quite a difficult proposition.

I think its a side effect , of quitting drinking Alcohol, at least for me .

Makes me wonder what would happen if Petty ever went sober.

And are the chances really good they will be doing films on silmarillion?

no I dont think so, as they dont have the filming rights, but obviously this may change in time if the Tolkien estate was to give the go-ahead, but its unlikely due to Christopher Tolkien not exactly being keen on Peter Jacksons films.

I would imagine that while christopher Tolkien is alive, no new rights will be sold. He isnt exactly enamoured with what pj and co have done so far!
