Anyone know a good app or something that converts youtube videos to mp3 audio files? I used to have one that worked nicely, but I've forgotten what it was called, and I've tried googling around for some good ones but most are crap. The one I used to have would let me paste links into a list and convert them all to sound files all in one go, and I'd like something similar, something that lets me convert a number of files at once. Anyone know an app that lets me do this?

Dunno about apps but audacity might do it, it reads the audio on certain file types* and then you can just output that as an MP3 (you'll need to get the mp3 plug in)

*and depends what you download the youtube vids as try to avoid flv optoins, take mp4 if it available. More editing progs in my experience will deal with mp4 files than flv's.

Thanks for helping out, Petty, but I already found the converter I used before! I wonder how I managed to miss it, it wasn't hard to find :oops:It's called DVD videosoft, has tons of functions and is free. Excellent software. Problem solved

Edit: It's even better than I remembered! I needed it for downloading an audiobook, and the software discovered that the first chapter was part of a playlist, and asked if I wanted to download the whole playlist. All I had to do was copy and paste one link, and it took care of the rest

I think I shall take a look at that prog myself, can never have to many handy tools about the pc, especially sporran friendly ones   Thanks Ringdrotten.

As you'll see when you go to that website there are tons of useful tools in there if you download the full pack. I just downloaded the youtube converter to save some time now (the different softwares can be downloaded separately as well), but I think I'll get the whole thing myself. Like you said, one can never have too many handy tools about

 Just downloaded their dailymotion downloader, a site my usual downloader has problems with, classic Who here I come!

Word of warning to those not used to downloading such progs, when you install make sure you pick custom install each time so you can untick all the other crap it will try to install  

May have overloaded it a bit Looks like 7 full audiobooks of roughly 1 gig each is a little too much for it to handle all at once, so don't try to download too many episodes at the same time
