Norc I have to wait until June 18th before I can see it in this country, so I cant tell you how much I like it yet. bounce

as for Scotty, he is a lot older in the tv show, he has about 30 years more experience under his belt, so the young Scotty may have been more mercurial and just finding his role within the Group.

even though i loved the movie, i do understand the sexism criticism very well. the scene where Alice Eve is in her underwear happens for no good reason, i can't even remember why she chose to change clothes, also when they have this meeting (because terrorist duh) it's all white, middle-aged men. Uhura is smart, brave and all that, but she has the shortest skirt i've ever seen and she's redused to Spock's girlfriend. Alice Eve's character is just (dr. Marcus) her fathers daughter (trying to avoid spoilers) and ends up as a damsel in distress. When confronting JJ Abrams with this (the video in the page on the link) he just said "well we saw Kirk almost naked in the beginning and it was to show of his bblablaba BOLLOCKS" also he tried to justify that they cut away the benedict scene (my sig). that i really don't see the point of. yes, nudity and all that, but he did beef up and he has to convey this super-human look, si why not show off his amazing muscles? that makes no sense, and i am not saying thos because i wanted it in the movie (i would have died) but because i actually don'y see the point of removing it, story-wise.

the bikini scene with alice eve was so un-motivated and unescesarry. she didn't even seem like (oh spoilers, sorry)

Hi Norc, I havnt seen the film yet, tho I do want to ! I want to see it as I likeSci-Fi very much but, Ive known for quite a while that Cumbywumbybums is actually a dam fine actor ! we should be looking after the few great actors we have in this country, really. I dont see why the shower scene was cut out ? Going by the last ST film, I think they just want the presence of "Kirk" in all his campy glory. He is iconic, say Star trek & you think of "Kirk" also. but to much emphasis on one character can get boring? I think its good to see ALL characters in all their "colours" ? Even "baddies" have characters, & I like to see that side !

to be fair to Uhuras short skirt. have you seen Uhura in the 60s and 70s tv show? her skirt was almost a belt it was so short. I mean seriously you could see what she had eaten for lunch. Star Trek was always sexy even in the 60s, Shatner was very beautiful when he was Young and a heartthrob, and there was always some scantily clad alien lady ready to seduce him so I dont mind a bit of eye candy in the film it seems normal.

I had nothing to do with that! Hopefully she will reappear soon, or one of her will anyway. Wink
