I do NOT moan. I make crabbit observations.

Well, that last line of Gandalf's was rather silly Apart from that and the stabbing business, though, I quite like the scene. The lines from the book in there are good

I guess the coven thought that Gandalf's original reason to talk to Saruman (to see if he would repent and be saved) was too subtle for a movie audience.

The last line and a few others dropped in to the scene before that-
Gandalf: Your treachery has already cost many lives. Thousands more are now at risk. But you could save them Saruman. You were deep in the enemy’s counsel.
and
SARUMAN:So you have come here for information. I have some for you.
(Holds up the palantir and looks into it)
Something festers in the heart of Middle Earth. Something that you have failed to see. But the great eye has seen it! Even now he presses his advantage. His attack will come soon.
(Gandalf rides forward)
You are all going to die! But you know this don’t you Gandalf?
-are supposed to generate some sort of peril- Saruman has information they need to know so they know what Sauron will do next. I assume the festering heart thing is Denethor- so its all about Gandaflf not knowing Gonodr will be attacked first.
Which is almost as stupid as that above line of Saruman's is badly written.
Agreed Halfwise- no courage to stick with what the book scene is about.

That would've been gold right there.halfwise wrote:And we didn't see Saruman return when called....that was important to show Gandalf's stature had become more than just some magic.
