And thankyou for doing so Eldo- excellent, totally enjoyed that. Nod
It does bear some resemblances to Firefly, the crappy outer worlds and rich inner, the western styled music and look to places- but it stands well and truly on its own. Loved the animation too- the fight scene was excellent as well, not too long and beautifully choregraphed.

I'm really glad you enjoyed it, Petty! cheers Very Happy

Cowboy Bebop is one of my favorite anime series and is widely regarded by American fans as one of the greatest anime ever made, though it's actually fairly obscure in Japan. That might be because it has so many Western influences. The music is definitely one of the best parts, some great jazz, blues, and rock influences worked into the soundtrack and the DNA of the show. A lot of the episodes are named after classic songs and albums. Smile I enjoy the animation as well. There are some particular nice scenes in space later on.

You might also have noticed that my current avatar comes from the show. Cool

If you watch in HD and fullscreen it's not bad quality. Anime Freak also has them up with minimal ads and the first episode, at least, seems to be pretty good quality. Let me know what you think if you keep watching. Very Happy

Maybe I'll give it a go, I have some bad experience with Anime, but maybe (after Who, quite caught up in it) I'll watch it ^^

Anime is just as diverse in terms of genre and tone as television in general is in any other country. You have anime aimed at little kids, anime aimed at adolescents, and anime aimed at older and more mature audiences. Cowboy Bebop is definitely aimed at a somewhat older and less action-oriented audience than, say, Dragon Ball Z. And it doesn't have a lot of the goofier magic and superpowers that some shows have. If you enjoyed Firefly I think you'd enjoy Bebop too, Norc. Smile

Also, the episodes are only 22 minutes long each, so it's really easy to find time to watch them. Very Happy At the very least, I'd give the first episode a try. Wink

Not that i want to distract you from Who Norc but I can second Eldo's recommendation. Allthe things he listed are things I tend not to like about anime- and I loved this. (Although I did have some reservations with the opening shots as its a bit of an anime motif the falling rose lark)

Thanks for the endorsement, Petty. Cool

I don't want to overload people with episode suggestions but if anyone is interested in giving the show a try it I can suggest a few particularly good episodes to start with beyond the first one. Smile

I'm glad that you're spreading the word! Very Happy I'm getting in a Bebop mood myself so I rewatched a couple episodes recently. I do think something is added by watching them all in order since you'll know all the newly introduced characters and themes but it's by no means necessary. The second episode is much more light-hearted but that melancholy, bluesy (but sometimes bittersweet) feel comes back strong afterwards.

Episode 5 introduces the only recurring villain and is pretty much indispensable.

I can't wait to hear your (and your friends') thoughts on the rest of Bebop! cheers
