Now it sounds like a lot, and quickly becomes ridiculous, but this is 10 hours of film were talking about.chris63 wrote:

I wonder if everyone has seen Ian McKellens appearance on Have I got news for you? It's a real funny episode with lots of Lord of the Rings references.

Hm, that's only 30 minutes. Anyone seen the extended one?
Edit: Just realised they didn't do extended episodes in series 26. Nevermind.

I think the phrase "young at heart" might be fitting.

I like Smaug's bowler hat, even if it somewhat askew.

Oh my goodness yes! I absolutely love this masterpiece. It has its faults, but that bit where Strider is watching over the hobbits in camp before Weathertop, and he hears carnival music coming through the woods... it puts me in conniptions, every time. My sister probably thought I was on something...Norc wrote:

Her favourite bit was Legolas on a horse equipped with an iPod dock, blasting U2 as he rides through the forest.
But then she hasn't finished it yet.
6:55 is just epic.

A bit uneven, overall, but there were some choice bits in that parody that made me laugh out loud.

I'd forgotten that part where Aragorn trips over his own scabbard. I have to wonder why the rotoscopers would rotoscope that. Illicit substances had to have been involved somehow.

I always saw it as an effective way to demonstrate how weary they were in their continual pursuit, so weary even Aragorn is stumbling in his tiredness.
"I had forgotten just how butt ugly it is"- Mrs Figg
And yet PJ took so many visual and directional cues from it.
I am also a fan of the depiction of the Black Riders (until they weirdly disrobe and go all armour strangness at Bree).
I thought using the root Old English meaning of a wraith as a literal twisted thing and presenting the Riders in that manner conveyed the fear and sense that they dont belong in the everyday world better than PJ's ever did.
I also still find their call to Frodo at the Ford of the repeated "Come back, come back. To Mordor we will take you!" quite chilling.
Pj's Black Riders never chilled me at any time.
