That sounds like a joke. It should be a joke. Yet the truth of it pains us both! (clever fellow removed that offender too from the revisted)

I have to say that Star Wars is one of my favorite series if not the favorite, but i have never been crazy about any of the movies. after the first few viewing i kind of lost interest in any of them. the only ones i care to see now are 'Clones and 'Sith, and thats only for the scenes that clone troopers are in. I am a much bigger fan of the universe as a whole than i am of the movies.

I think I'd like to know where that cow is - you know, what planet that cow is on - and.... err -- and I also would like to know how Lucas reached it in the first place. (I think you may have stumbled on another Roswell, Petty! Shocked )

I just can't get excitied about this. If it was the orignal films maybe that would spark my interest. But a blue ray version of the badly redone originals? Think I will pass on this one.

bounce (There isnt a dancing emoticon sadly)

Yeah full on surround sound crisp as can be would be one of the few advantages to the blueray version- but not enough to make me shell out for it, the actual changes Lucas made (particularly making Greebo shoot first- I mean the thing with Han is he is a diamond in the rough at the start, very rough and that scene shows the rough, removing it is a travesty!!!!-rant over Evil or Very Mad ) no the changes are to crabbit inducing for me to sit through these films (that and the last 3 suck and look like a computer game).

Oh, dang! I really wished that someone on this thread had posted a link to somewhere I could purchase these films. Preferably somewhere in China. Russia will do too though.

More changes to the Blu-ray release. Evil or Very Mad

BBC

NYT

George Lucas wrote:The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million [video] tapes out there wont last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the [Special Edition] version.

And then onto some of the actual changes; videos copied from the Blu-ray release:

Because Vader's "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" in Revenge of the Sith wasn't dumb enough. Rolling Eyes

I can't tell what Obi-Wan was supposed to be doing there, and more importantly, what on Earth was wrong the original? But then, we still have the Mother of all pointless, unnecessary, bullsh*t additions left in the Blu-ray. Mad

And, if YouTube can be believed, it's not just Greedo who shoots first, it's the intercom on the Death Star. Laughing Laughing

On the other hand, it's not all bad. For instance, they fixed some of the lightsaber SFX that had been overlooked in prior releases...

...and they replaced the godawful "young Yoda" puppet that was used in The Phantom Menace...

...but all in all, if I ever get Star Wars on Blu-ray, I'll wait for a release including the original versions. Mad

I used to like the movies a great deal more than I do now. I get bored watching them. They have a really weak story that nobody pays attention to because of the effects and coatumes. I greatly prefer the expanded universe works and other media, such as comics and video games. Probably the best scrip was ep 3, and even that is poor at several parts

I wouldn't say the story of the original trilogy is weak. Simple, yes, but it's a classic sort of story about heroes that draws direct inspiration from mythology along with the adventure serials of the '30s and '40s. That said, there are a lot of other elements that make the films truly great rather than the screenplay, so I somewhat agree. I do find the prequels story to be weak, largely because so little was explained on screen. Some of the EU stuff makes more sense just because they bothered to actually explain things. IMO. Razz
