MMmm-need a Lore check! If the lifespan stats are correct then the average human in the TA lived longer than the average hobbit. Which seems possible now its pointed out but never considered it before.

It's not a statistically meaningful data set. Not only are the sample sizes around 10 (at best!) but they only pick out those with stories worth recording, and interesting lives are by definition an anomaly.

These people are statistical morons. That particular journal paper will *never* get published.

I don't understand how someone could look at the ages of members of the House of Elros and the House of Elendil and conclude that they were representative of the larger population, not just for statistical science reasons, but because they're stated to be supernatural exceptions in the books.
