Re: Hello Norc
we should form a comitee.. like for planning. two or three people who are good at organizing and idk.. good at getting discounts..
we could do it as a sort of trip, like each for their own plain ticket to oxford, but then there is some kinda cool plan. museums or touring or pub-crawling, maybe even staying at the same hotel (group discounts, like these old people get when they go touring together). and that is kinda prepared by this comitee.. ofcourse a good date some time in the future is important. i would suggest someone (at least one person) on the inside. i could come up with ideas i think, but i am terrible at the phone and idk.. stuff like that.
what do you guys think? if it is well planned, one can fill it under the "vacation-budget"

Re: Hello Norc
Once you've included touring in the planning, you've pretty much locked in the Brit hobbits as the planning committee. Or maybe Tin - being as she's been there. But somebody's got to find her first.
As for me, I like that campground I found last time, though it's not much good for those travelling by plane.

Re: Hello Norc
well, one brit surely. but idk... we've all done our bit of travelling so i think we are all good resources if we are willing to put some work into it.
why not the campgrounds? i think that sounds like a really cool idea. do you have a link or something?

Re: Hello Norc
meaning, at least one inside man/woman but that person doesnt nescesarily have to do the most work
Re: Hello Norc
I reckon hiring a guest house or cottage would be good. As long as there are about 8 of us, it could work out cheaper.

{{I can do the former - but as I plan on coming appropriately and respectfully dressed in my kilt I don't think I have any need of cosplaying (and no I wont be wearing anything under it, I did say I'd be 'appropriately' dressed!) Also might need to stock up on buckie- maybe send some ahead to save packing room, bit concerned about its availability in Sassenach land after Tin's difficulties in obtaining some there }}

This is the kind of thing I should definitely not be organizing. Seeing as the words I live by are "If it's ambitious, it'll fail. (So, don't try.)"

Campgrounds ruled out for two reasons: 1. possible weather 2. have to bring too much equipment. The cottage is better, though really committing.

Re: Hello Norc
with the cottage idea the more people the less expensive it would be, but there are other solutions like small hostels, B&B's, or even large caravans. The important thing is transport, you need to be either within easy walking distance or on a public transport route, theres no point being stuck out in the countryside with no means of access without a car. Off season would be better too, but that's more risky as regards weather, although Oxford has a nice climate, Winter is a no-no. I used to live there so I know that in Summer its mad full of tourists and its expensive.

Yup, that's me.
(It really is though. And, yeah, it is kind of sad. :/)
I probably shouldn't complain so much.

You talking about this year or next year? Early May is only a month away.

I suppose we should expect it to take several days for Norc to descend from her mad little life to acknowledge the likes of us.

Re: Hello Norc
So Norc blew through and didn't even respond to her greetings. Life seems so empty and meaningless now.
