Post by Norc Fri Apr 01, 2016 3:27 pm

we should form a comitee.. like for planning. two or three people who are good at organizing and idk.. good at getting discounts..

we could do it as a sort of trip, like each for their own plain ticket to oxford, but then there is some kinda cool plan. museums or touring or pub-crawling, maybe even staying at the same hotel (group discounts, like these old people get when they go touring together). and that is kinda prepared by this comitee.. ofcourse a good date some time in the future is important. i would suggest someone (at least one person) on the inside. i could come up with ideas i think, but i am terrible at the phone and idk.. stuff like that.

what do you guys think? if it is well planned, one can fill it under the "vacation-budget" Smile

Once you've included touring in the planning, you've pretty much locked in the Brit hobbits as the planning committee. Or maybe Tin - being as she's been there. But somebody's got to find her first. :drum:

As for me, I like that campground I found last time, though it's not much good for those travelling by plane.

I reckon hiring a guest house or cottage would be good. As long as there are about 8 of us, it could work out cheaper.

Campgrounds ruled out for two reasons: 1. possible weather 2. have to bring too much equipment. The cottage is better, though really committing.

with the cottage idea the more people the less expensive it would be, but there are other solutions like small hostels, B&B's, or even large caravans. The important thing is transport, you need to be either within easy walking distance or on a public transport route, theres no point being stuck out in the countryside with no means of access without a car. Off season would be better too, but that's more risky as regards weather, although Oxford has a nice climate, Winter is a no-no. I used to live there so I know that in Summer its mad full of tourists and its expensive.
