Re: Complaints [2]
i found him very amusing it was great fun talking to him it was like having a conversation with SiriEldorion wrote:So yeah, I'm working my way through the "hi geys" thread. Since when do we threaten people for trolling on this forum? There are a lot of regulars here who'd be long gone if we applied rules like that consistently. I get that most people show a little more discretion when they first join, but frankly I find this grey gundulf guy pretty amusing so far.
Anyway, I'll keep reading through his posts. Maybe he gets worse, but he wasn't met with the most welcoming of atmospheres, which I find odd considering that we usually pride ourselves on being strange and despite the textspeak, his posts are still more comprehensible than Norc and Amarie's Google-proof Fjordian dialects.
the reason i didn't give any warm welcome stuff, as Tin did sins she is really sweet, us just because i felt there was something odd, i mean who writes in numbers and well.. idk.. doesn't really introduce himself.. idk.. i might have been a bit cold, but i wasn't hostile at first. i became best friends with him after a while
i love when "trolls" comes to the forum, it's nice with some exciting stuff happening, some action it's like when a bird comes flying into the living room, or a squirrel, chaotic but great fun

You know troll shit when youre standing in it.
also, about the definition of troll. if he is banned or whatever, labeled as a troll, u might as well take me with u cus i kinda went with it.. and well, as eldo said (i think) quite a lot of people here would be labeled trolls if we were to go by other forum's standards, especially me.....i have been fairly close to the line sometimes, if not crossing it. and so has.. ok. not naming names but u know who!

Hold it, wait...Time Out. STOP! You just graduated from college? Weren't you just on your way there less than 2 years ago?Eldorion wrote:Simulpost. :DThanks guys! I actually used to work there a couple years ago but I had to stop due to pressure from college and elsewhere. But since I've graduated I've gone back and fortunately a lot of people remember me (and a few of them are/have become managers ).

Re: Complaints [2]
Yeah, sometimes I'm not in the mood for it as much (as you may have noticed in some of my responses ), but at the end of the day I'm glad we're the kind of forum where people can just let loose and do bizarre crap like this. It adds a bit of zestiness to the experience of being here.Norc wrote:also, about the definition of troll. if he is banned or whatever, labeled as a troll, u might as well take me with u :Pcus i kinda went with it.. and well, as eldo said (i think) quite a lot of people here would be labeled trolls if we were to go by other forum's standards, especially me.....i have been fairly close to the line sometimes, if not crossing it. and so has.. ok. not naming names but u know who!
Although the use of numbers as letters is a common part of textspeak and/or leetspeak.

Haha, thanks Norc. And I'm really excited; I worked at this bookstore one summer a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it, so I'm very glad to be back now that I don't have school competing for my attention and can dedicate more time to work.Norc wrote:don't u pay any attention? he even posted a picture of himself in the gown and all! he's a fucking badass smartie-pants! jesus ...

Re: Complaints [2]
Bookstores are almost dying out. Anything done to keep them going is a deed well done. There used to be hordes of bookstores roaming across the country like bison...now I know of 5 that closed in just the last few years.

Re: Complaints [2]
Well I work at a Barnes & Noble so don't tell them I said this, but I was a little sad when Borders closed a few years ago because it made me worry for the future of physical bookstores in general. But fortunately B&N seems to be doing pretty well, though that's largely through diversification beyond just books, of course.
Re: Complaints [2]
The niche has shrunk and B&N won the dog fight. It's the last of the big bookstores; mainly specialty stores and extremely well curated small stores near colleges are left. But it's hard to haunt a small store the way you can a big one. Very few used book stores left as well, but NYC is home to the big momma: the Strand. Only been in there twice - I prefer the smaller used book stores, but those have mainly been squeezed out by sidewalk peddlers these days. I think I buy about half my books these days off of folding tables.

Re: Complaints [2]
wow book shops. Theres only Waterstones and Blackwells in Manchester, well only Waterstones really because they have a coffee shop. the others like Dillons have all gone, its a real shame. In Florence its even worse, I remember this DIVINE art bookshop, were I could spend hours and hours just mooching it was that big, now its gone and loads of other little second hand ones too. About three large chains have shut up shop as well. its worrying. and sad.

Book stores are still numereous in Fjordia, thank Eru. Would be a shame to see them go away like video rental stores

It reached the maximum post count and got split. The new religion thread is still open.
Re: Complaints [2]
Our new friend seems to have managed to swear at an insult a newbie today. Poor guy have only made 6 posts and seems to have made an enemy already!
Re: Complaints [2]
- Spoiler:
- I know I'm not one to be making decisions, and I'm still fairly new here compared to others, but the whole troll thing (while it was funny for that one day) is not funny anymore. How does it reflect on the forum as a whole if he's there insulting a new user? Not the most welcoming environment if you ask me.

Yeah, you guys are right. He's getting to be more abrasive than funny now. I'll send him a PM and give him one more chance though.
Re: Complaints [2]
