Re: Retrieving old posts
Thanks for all your hard work, Petty! Just to be clear, you're now done with the "Pettytyrant" account and switching over to "Pettytyrant101"?
I'll use the "Old Forum" account to move over a few threads when I have the time, though I've procrastinated a lot this weekend already.

Re: Retrieving old posts
One of my favourite threads, Origin of Hobbits?, has been reclaimed. It was longer than I remembered though so that's all the copying I feel up to now. I need to

Lookin' good, Petty! I did just a bit of cleaning up formatting in there the Itaril thread since some of the code that PT added came over.

The Tolkien Birthday Toast thread is back where you'd expect it in the J.R.R. Tolkien section.

Going to move all the smaller threads belonging in TH section from PT as they shouldn't take so long.

Sweeeet!
I'll get cracking tomorrow guys. I'll have more time then. I'll work on The Ring's Destruction: Jackson's Method. There's a lot of good debate in that one about Providence etc.

Re: Retrieving old posts
I thought the Silmarillion forum was looking rather empty so I moved over the Filming Possibilities, Geography, and Fingolfin threads. I don't have the time at the moment to get the longer ones - I have to study - but it'd be nice to have the BEREN AND LUTHIEN threads at some point, if anyone who was active in those is interested.

If you can spend 12 hours on shift with 32 dementia patients asking you the same questions over and over every 33 seconds, then the repetition of copying text is nothing!
- besides I watched 'The assassination of jesse james...' whilst doing it. An odd experience- like watching a good film but in slow motion.

Re: Retrieving old posts
That's a film I've been meaning to watch for a while, now I think I will: A film Petty thinks is good has to be fantastic in the eyes of others
On topic: Saw a funny LotR picture today and thought I'd ask if there was any interest in bringing back the Humour/parodies thread? I could do that tomorrow if the rest of you would like it back as well. Quite a lot of funny stuff in that thread, shame to lose it

Re: Retrieving old posts
If you don't mind Ringdrotten a slow paced film, really slow, lots of lovely but often quite long shots and periods of studied silence then you will probably enjoy it. It's brilliantly played, shot, lit, its just its also very long, well over 3 hours I think and there are times when you want to grab it and squeeze it down to a film half the length and faster paced.

I'd love to see that one back, it was hilarious. Just be careful copying URLs - the PT forum crops them if they're too long adds ellipses in the middle. You might have to click the link from PT and copy the URL from the destination page directly, otherwise we'll just have a partial link followed by ...

I don't mind that, I love it! That's part of what I love about the animation series Samurai Jack, it's one the things that make it such an awesome series The longer the movie the better, in my opinion, so that's no problem. I'll have a go at it when I get some more time on my hands
Edit: Will do, Eldo

Re: Retrieving old posts
Have startet copying the Humour/parodies thread now. Takes a while as all the urls are messed up and need fixing, but I'm getting there Only done about the first page from PT yet, so there's lots more to go. I'll get back at it as soon as I can
PS: Your custom smileys I have removed, GB, as only the code shows. Mr Green has been replaced with most of the time, though I suspect I might've missed some and left it either smiley-less or simply with the MrGreen code still in the post.

Re: Retrieving old posts
Good work Ringdrotten. The missing bits and blocks of code are a pain in the a**e and makes the whole process a lot longer than necessary. Bit you've been more patient than me, I just deleted the ones that didn't show up rather than replace them except in a few circumstances were they seemed crucial.
