Bibles don't destroy the farming economy by making food so cheap farmers can't sell at a profit. All too often economies have been destroyed this way, then more food has to be brought in because nobody's farming: it's a vicious cycle. A careful agri-economic analysis must be done on a continuous basis and the food supply MUST be kept below saturation if anything at all can be grown, or nobody WILL grow beyond what's needed to feed themselves and the cities/towns end up totally dependent on outside aid.
Unless there's famine conditions brought on by drought or war I'd much rather bibles be sent, at least it helps people learn to read.
