Mayoral Elections - Polls Closed

Welcome to the first stage of Forumshire's first ever Mayoral elections! We're all very excited to have you with us. The official voting thread will open soon, but before that, we must determine our list of candidates so that they can be added to the polls.

If you know someone you want to be nominated, you should express that desire here, but no that it is prohibited to vote for or nominate oneself. The nominations thread shall run until the end of December when all nominees will be added to the Official Election Poll (or, depending on how many nominees there are, those with the most nominations).

Also, please keep in mind that the position of Mayor is intended to be a representative of the people. Therefore, only those without official position in the Forumshire Administration or Monarchy may run for election. That disqualifies current Admins, Mods, and Queens from the running. Good luck to the plebes!

Also, please note that the Mayor will be given a prestige, a lovely hole, a seat on the Forumshire Council, and a reserved cart parking spot; all payed for by NOTP, which promised this.

ps the NotP reliably inform me Eldo that they are covered from all obligations made by, for or in their publications under the legal terms laid out in every issue and contained somewhere therein in the dot of a letter, or in a fullstop. And they advise the potential winner to examine those legal disclaimers closely under an electron palantir before trying to claim their prize.

Well I suppose being unintelligable could be a bonus for a politciian. One the one hand we won't know if what he is saying is good, but on the other we won't know when its bad news either.

Orwell does seem a good choice. I support that nomination.

I'm busy at the moment with "Finals:" at Our Lady's, and plan to do quite a bit f extra- curricular Mentoring with my students over the Erumas period. Among a bad bunch then, I second Orwell's nomination. (I'd choose a Banks, but would not wish to seem biased).

Well, I guess if he can curb his Lady Charming, I would agree Orwell is the best candidate. I would vote for Odo, too, but we do have a close (professional) association.

Happens to me all the time, Lorient. Which leads to quite a bit of confusion when I start to think about the dirty things both of them have been known to say.

I don't know what you mean Eldo and I'd stay low if Pretty is about now too if I were you.

Will the new Mayor need an Intern, you know to search for paper clips under his desk? cos my services are available, just need paying in new shoos and buttered muffins.

Well, with the extra workload - and I don't plan to to give up my Lectureship at Our Lady's! - I might very well need to have an intern if I become Mayor. Providing she's of the right sort. I'll recquire an intern who is happy to make my tea and light my pipe or, in my case, my tobacccostick. I've lately been buying them from Mr Longbottom in the South Farthing. Wonderful invention! My first act as Mayor (if I win) will be to repeal taxes on those tobaccosticks. Anything with the potential to give such wonderful relief and pleasure to oneself or his friends must surely incur no taxes! (Mr Longbottom told me they are made of 'Havana Leaf' - whatever that is! So long as it's quality pipeweed, I don't care what he calls it ).

It's a hard choice, with both Odo and Orwell nominated, but after much deliberation, I second (or third) Orwell's nomination! We need an open minded, masculine, doer who is up with the times, to lead us, I think. Who knows, Dark Planet may invade again one day, and surely we'll need a strong and brainy hobbit to thwart any of that horrible Council's vicious plans. Also, when it comes to Foreign Policy, we do need a handsome leader to charm the World.

I'm not sure who to nominate... {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{I guess it should be someone who is willing to come be third in command (Eldo being second, and Her Maj [myself] being first of course!) Hmmmmmm... someone who wouldn't mind me taking control... someone who isn't here all the time...}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} I chose Ringdrotten! I think he has the levelest head out of all of us!
