LEGO Middle-earth
Someone sent me an e-mail about this and I thought it was pretty cool. A bunch of people built LEGO replicas of a number of well-known landmarks from the story. They seem to draw mainly on the films for inspiration, though the films themselves were made by way of Alan Lee and John Howe, for better or worse. Either way I find it wild as someone who used to play with LEGO a lot but was never able to build anything that big or that good.

You can see a bit of it in this video (you don't need sound because there's a lot of background noise) but there's a lot more.

Re: LEGO Middle-earth
Oddly enough I was chatting my friend whose yougest is going though a lego starwars phase, and we were commenting on how as kids we had built lego starwars stuff anyway before the official stuff existed, and now lego Middle-Earth. Hi boy would love that (and so would I truth be told!). Although you know me, not one to criticize, but Minas Tirith seemed short a circle or two.

Not exactly the same, but the LEGO video game people (makers of such fine games as LEGO Harry Potter, LEGO Indiana Jones, LEGO Batman, and LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean) have secured the right to make a LEGO Lord of the Rings video game, due out next year.

Well the cut scenes in the star wars ones at least were nicely observed-and there is quite a lot ot poke fun at in that gentle style with pj's films!

Re: LEGO Middle-earth
Well, it appears that a lot of people (myself included) may have jumped the gun a bit. The LEGO LOTR project is looking more and more like it will be a series of physical LEGO sets rather than video games (though that's not confirmed yet). I'm actually more intrigued by that since I used to play with LEGO sets a lot, though I would be unlikely to buy either.
Re: LEGO Middle-earth
They'll be sets (think I posted something in the Art or Off Topic section about them). If they had only come 10 years ago I would have killed for them Who knows, though, maybe I'll buy them anyway

I want the Helm's Deep set. Also, perhaps the most interesting picture was one on the TORn page that io9 linked to. Click here since the image is huge.

Re: LEGO Middle-earth
I started out with a big bucket with lid and handle full of large lego for Hasia. Then it was the rescue sets, the cottage set, the bank set with a teeny tiny atm and microscopic bank card, then she discovered lotr and then she saw Petty and is so longing to have him in her collection. We love lego.
I must say Eldo you look very striking and handsome. Wherever do you shop?

Yes Ally, you did spell it quite wrong, and it's fine Norc, it's worth posting twice!
