BLU-RAY extended edition
Havn't watched lotr for a year, been waiting for this. Wasn't disappointed, picture and sound were excellent.
Also there is a DVD behind the scenes for each of the trilogy, not to be confused with the making of.
Contains alot of stuff i havn't seen before, on the same lines thou.

Re: BLU-RAY extended edition
I watched the EE remasters in theatres last month and saw a few HD promos on TV. I now want to get a Blu-ray player for the first time, and may be able to sometime in the next few months.

Also, for those who are curious about the differences between all five different home video releases of The Lord of the Rings so far, check out this handy chart, originally from Amazon (warning: large image).

And then, of course, there's this:
Not real (fortunately? sadly?).

Re: BLU-RAY extended edition
I still don't have a Blu-ray player (yet) but I'm highly tempted to get the box set at the reduced price and then badger the rest of my family into getting a BR player.
Re: BLU-RAY extended edition
There making The Titanic in 3D, so maybe they can convert lotr, so you might have to get 3Dtv and blu-ray.

Re: BLU-RAY extended edition
Didn't we just have a similar article (the original Elijah Wood interview, IIRC) posted recently, or am I imagining things?

Re: BLU-RAY extended edition
Not bad, not bad. I can handle being second to HP (anything but Twilight ).
Re: BLU-RAY extended edition
Its disappointing (my love for Harry Potter has greatly declined the past 3 years). If LOTR can't be on top, I would have greatly preferred something else, maybe SW (which I am greatly disappointed is behind Twilight), but not HP.

Re: BLU-RAY extended edition
I'm disappointed for SW too, but keep in mind with HP that it's up to eight films now, whereas LOTR still has only three. I would think that average sales per film would put LOTR in the #1 spot.

No love for Twilight? Greatest. Franchise. Ever.

Re: BLU-RAY extended edition
If I may say so, I have been very clever with the presents this Christmas - bought a blu-ray player for my mother and the LotR EE in blu-ray for my sister, so now it's time to see how much better blueray really is

Re: BLU-RAY extended edition
Very sneaky, Ringdrotten. I got a Blu-ray player this Christmas myself, though I got Harry Potter 7.2 on Blu-ray rather than LOTR. (I watched that already though and it was pretty fantastic in HD!) I'll have to pick up the EE trilogy on my own soon and give it a try.
Re: BLU-RAY extended edition
Nice I'm enjoying FotR so far - Rivendell in particular looks better than ever

Re: BLU-RAY extended edition
I can imagine! I saw a few comparison sceenshots that got posted on other forums by people complaining about color editing, but all I noticed was how much clearer and more detailed the image was. It looks pretty fantastic. Hopefully I'll be able to see the films (and the newly-included documentaries!) soon myself since I ordered the EE box set from Amazon.com. Apparently someone had been planning on getting it for me for Christmas but didn't since it's in-store price is US$120. Amazon had it marked down by $70 (for a total of $50).
