He's a little too beefy for me as Eomer Mrs Figg, if the body was more athletic and less brawny though then I'd agree (but its a cracking picture).

Conan the Cimmerian I think it was actually. Long time since I read any Conan (about 30 years in fact) but if memory serves the Barbarian bit was just descriptive of the early years of his life as opposed to a title.

Ah yes, Conan son of Howard the Kimmeranian, brother to Hyperboreanna the Somewhat Older. I got mixed up with the animation studio Hanna-barabarion there.

Actually I'm also a Conan reader from a long-ish time ago Petty (having some fun with the names there). Frazetta did him justice back then in my opinion, but this painting is well done too, I agree. I was into the Conan comics for a bit as well, until BWS left.

The comics were a rarity in my neck of the woods,only ones i could get was occasioanly off one of the American navy kids stationed here as they could get them at their Commissary.
And yeah, might be stereotypical fantasy images but no denying Frazetta has style.
Ever seen Bakshi's Fire And Ice? Frazetta did the characters for it.



Jump to 3:05 for some classic Frank character models! (6:50's a bit too) Bakshi's rotoscoping thing never really worked in his LotR's to often, but its outstanding in this film.

Saw 'Wizards' and, of course, The Lord of the Rings, as far as it went anyway. I think Wizards was Bakshi too.

Its basically a couple of D&D modules, some orcs (renamed subhumans), combined with Star Wars (including death star attack-only with dragons). And one great character. In otherworlds its complete bunkum- however some of the animation is stunning, and the fight sequences are superb. If your in the right mood its entertaining fantasy nonsense.

Good question Mrs Figg.
They seem to be having a meal- so got to be somewhere they stop- Rivendell, Beorns, Elven-Kings Halls (although they dont get given a big meal there unless PJ has changed it all again).
Its quite leafy too, there is greenery at Rivendell but more at the Elven-Kings I'd imagine.
The stone seats etc are a bit elvish looking too- seem to remember a few of those at Rivendell, plus I think thats Gandalf sitting behind the camera- meaning it cant be the elvenkings as he is not there. And there should be no elves at Beorns (I thin kshe is an elf- looks elvish but pics not good enough to be sure on the ears- either way shouldnt be anyone else at Beorns).
My money therefore is on her being non-descript elven waitress A at Rivendell! And further I will speculate this is a night scene and that bright screen is where a full moon will be ready to read some moon runes.

At first I thought Arwen in Rivendell, but the photo is not clear enough, but you are probably right about the Elven waitress.

And I suppose there is th eoutside chance its at Lake Town as she is a mere wench! But I dont get much of a Laketown vibe from it.

Might not be him, but looks like there is the top of a white head just visable above the top of the camera around whom the dwarves are standing.

OK I just enlarged it and I think you're right. Rivendell and the Last Homely House just like it says. Besides the dwarves aren't as ragged as they get later. I think I'm with Ally on this one.
