We are certainly a very dedicated lot. Not that other forums don't have dedicated cores too, but there are very few other forums that do so to this extent from such a small overall userbase.

I still visit PT from time to time, mostly lurking, and don't see to many names I recognize.  There used to be more of a back-and-forth between the two sites in 2011. Other than in the migrated threads from the old forum, which contain something like 10,000 of the posts from 2008-2011. Though our post total here includes nearly 1500 of those same posts that we (well, mostly you, Petty) manually copied and pasted over here back in the day.

Impressive (and mildly disturbing) when you consider the majority of the posts here are made by the same 20-30 people.

At least half of our posts are probably off-topic to Tolkien, but even so this is probably the busiest forum I'm ever been a member of (other than IMDB), Planet Tolkien and The LOTR Plaza seem to be suffering very slow deaths

Most Tolkien forums are dying slow deaths, unfortunately. The Plaza has seen a bit of an upturn so far this year, relatively speaking, but I know from our experience here that those can be hard to sustain. This is the new normal now that all forums have to adjust to, although the oldbies on here may remember a similar experience in 2009-10. That was a time when the older, established LOTR forums were still getting by on inertia (although the decline was known and being worried about even then), but we had to work to scrape by and build activity. Might not have been bad preparation, though.

I wonder if we'll ever overtake TORn with a higher post average per day?

I expect that their search engine positioning thanks to their news blog will keep them head and shoulders above the rest of the forums for the foreseeable future, though it's already by considerably less of a margin than when The Hobbit films were being released.

Just wanted to point out that Mrs Figg is a mere four posts away from her big 20K milestone!

Yup, Petty was the first (he's now over 30K) and I passed 20K back in early January. You have a higher post per day average than I do though.
