Re: Star Wars [2]
I think I might have been excited for Star Wars a year ago. All that has worn off and I'm expecting the absolute worst now.

Re: Star Wars [2]
That was good of them. It's a sad story but I'm glad they could do something nice for the guy, given his situation and what a huge SW fan he is.

I've had an ominous feeling ever since Abrams was announced was announced as Director, and some of the posters/trailers have done little to change that...I'm not exactly expecting a bad film, I'm just worried it will be a rehash pandering to fans, rather than striking out on its own, we've waited 30 years for this, so I hope they do something a little different rather than just throw a few of the greatest hits at the screen. Not liking the apparent suggestion Han is the main character, I'm much more intrigued by what Luke has been up to...
As I've said before the prequels were awful, but at least Lucas had the audacity/stupidity to tell the story he wanted, rather than just do the easy thing and do exactly what the fans wanted...
Naturally my fears didn't stop me from booking a ticket for an IMAX showing on opening day

Re: Star Wars [2]
I think Han will play a big part in the movie (bigger than Luke anyway), but the main characters are clearly Rey and Finn. I'm worried about a rehash now, too. Something that hadn't crossed my mind.
Yeah George didn't exactly do a rehash, but he had his "poetry" moments, and now I think we're gonna get a lot of those in this new movie.
The nearest true IMAX screen for me is at the MN Zoo which is the exact opposite side of the Twin Cities from me. It would be neat, but I can't be arsed to drive all the way down there just for a movie. I'll probably end up waiting a few days or a week to see it anyway.

Re: Star Wars [2]
Japanese trailer has some new footage. With that last line in the trailer why didn't they just subtitle the film "A New Hope".
Rey and Finn seem pretty likable, which is a good sign.

Re: Star Wars [2]
Hey guys, that Warcraft movie trailer just came out today, and I don't know if it's because I exhausted my levels of excitement, but I just couldn't stand it. The CGI is fantastic (maybe overused at times), but the acting seems terrible, as if they're doing a first table read. I'm completely aware that it may sound very good, maybe oscar worthy, in context, but the POINT of a trailer is that they manipulate the footage they have so that it sounds good. The plot for the most part seemed a bit cliched and oversimplified, exactly my problems with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. I really want it to be good though,

Only a 30 second TV spot but it's all new footage as far as I can tell:
- Spoiler:
- Seems like more fodder for the "Rey is Luke or Leia's daughter" theory, which already looked really likely.
Re: Star Wars [2]

Re: Star Wars [2]
One has hope because it looks right this time, then there is Abrams, one has more hope because its SW's, then there is the rehash look of the narrative and the sinking feeling you might just be getting SW again....Mmmm.

Re: Star Wars [2]
Yes but he made it exactly the style that would have worked in a star wars movie (or at least be acceptable)
For me, although the trailers were quite impressive, this article really proves he knows what he's doing, and that he has the right philosophy as a director.
