Extended Edition trailer BOTFA clip

this look even more horrible "Legolas on the bat" killing orcs upside down.
a troll jumping into the ice
the dwarves arrive... then the ballistas are fired at the elves, which takes out their arrows.

Jesus H Christ.
Can't say I'm surprised at this point. Now I don't really have a desire to see it at all, or the extended scenes.

Re: Extended Edition trailer BOTFA clip
I mean, it's basically what we expected. The trailer was really well put together though. I chuckled at the cutting together of scenes to create the exchange: "I'm not a warrior" / "That remains to be seen". Very fitting for the movie Bilbo.

Hey guys, guess what phrase is conspicuously NOT on the cover of the EE trilogy box set?

I gotta be honest though, with the amount of shit that gets stirred over the most superficial things, I don't blame PJ for wanting to cover his ass on this one, even though I never believed they were going to use the title for a box set.

As Professor Tolkien intended, “There and Back Again” encompasses Bilbo’s entire adventure, so don’t be surprised if you see it used on a future box-set of all three movies.

Re: Extended Edition trailer BOTFA clip
That's a very subdued cover-image, all things considered.

Re: Extended Edition trailer BOTFA clip
It's very similar to the LOTR EE Blu-ray covers. I prefer the EE DVD covers but it still has a certain class to it.
Comparison (Blu-ray):
And the classic DVDs (god tier box set):

Re: Extended Edition trailer BOTFA clip
Should be Thorin on the cover instead of Bilbo, would be more accurate.
And wow that Legolas bat thing was totally absurd. This whole thing is crying for a parody to be made.

More images from Amazon:
Blu-ray
DVD
The individual DVD cases look pretty much the same as the ones that were released individually, but the Blu-ray cases are different and more streamlined (presumably to fit into the smaller box). I'm actually liking the Hobbit Blu-ray box more than the LOTR Blu-ray one so far. The LOTR DVD EEs are still the GOAT packaging though. Dat single color weathered look.

Re: Extended Edition trailer BOTFA clip
yes, the LotR packaging (and appendices) are the gold standard.
'GOAT'?
'Greatest Of All The...'?
'Gandalf's Only Advertised Time'?
'Giggling Over And Thumping'?
'Giga Omega Alpha Theta'?

Re: Extended Edition trailer BOTFA clip
I first came across the term in an NFL Network piece about Jerry Rice years ago, but I think it's spreading faster than ever now thanks to the Internet.
Re: Extended Edition trailer BOTFA clip
15 discs? Really?

Re: Extended Edition trailer BOTFA clip
They should include free action figures, letter openers or paperweights.

Re: Extended Edition trailer BOTFA clip
I like watching the EE appendices, in fact I was watching the FOTR one about writing the script, and man were they so much more keen on sticking to the books, as in openly talking about staying as faithful as possible. Now there's nothing like that to be seen. The book? Yeah we didn't like it and we had 3 movies so we really wanted to explore some creative opportunities ect ect

Radaghast wrote:15 discs? Really?
For each film, two discs of the movie, and three discs of Appendices. Pretty similar to how the LOTR EE DVDs were, except all of the LOTR Appendices took two DVDs per film. The fifth disc that was introduced for the Blu-ray box set included the three separate Costa Botes documentaries (one per film). Oddly enough, I guess to maintain continuity with LOTR, they still have only two numbered Appendices per film, so for AUJ there was Appendix 7 Part 1, Appendix 7 Part 2, and Appendix 8 (appendices 1-6 of course were the LOTR ones).
Re: Extended Edition trailer BOTFA clip
Appendices? There are enough of these appendices to fill three discs?!

Re: Extended Edition trailer BOTFA clip
Desolation of Smaug's appendices apparently run to about 10 hours of video in total. AUJ was like nine hours. Neither of these figures includes the commentary tracks, which are the length of each EE (though I believe there is only one commentary track per film instead of the four per film we got with LOTR).

Sweet merciful crap...
