He's obviously joking around. It's some kind of optical camera effect when they goof around with the contrast to help you see mercury I imagine.

Re: Space and The wonders/mysteries of The Universe
Pure crazy I'd say. There are optical effects in the atmosphere that will sometimes give a mirage of a second sun, but if there really were two of them you'd think someone else besides this guy would have noticed in the last several thousand years despite any conspiracies by NASA to hide it for their own special purposes......

Re: Space and The wonders/mysteries of The Universe
Well, that's our second Sun.
I don't know if you knew we had a second Sun, but, er, there it is.
Sounds legit.

Well, got my shitty telescope set up and saw 4 things:
- more detail of the moon. It looks a lot more like those funky space photos through a scope.
- Mars is a little less red through the scope than with your eyes... paler orange but that is probably because of the cheapness of the scope and the amount of light it can collect.
- you really can see Saturn's rings even with the piece of shit I have.
- I picked out 2 of Jupiter's moons. Was very surprised at that!!
Re: Space and The wonders/mysteries of The Universe
Not such a shitty scope after all ? sounds like good fun to me

Well, remember that Galileo saw 4 moons of Jupiter, and that was nearly 400 years ago when the technology was close to its infancy. It has to be a truly shitty scope if you can't see what he saw. The other 2 big ones were probably behind the back.

OF COURSE!!!
It's obviously a conspiracy of the Cybermen who have no doubt infiltrated and subverted NASA as part of the cover-up!
How could I not have seen this before?

Re: Space and The wonders/mysteries of The Universe
Some have estimated The Milky Way alone could contain more than 500 Billion stars, and upwards of 100 Billion planets , travelling at light speed, it would take 100,000 years to cross the Milky Way...so yeah, it's very, very big...

It's millions of light years away from the Milky Way, the picture was just a size comparison, the entire human race will be long dead before the Voyager gets anywhere near it...
Apparently its so big, it shouldn't actually exist according to our current understanding of space physics...

I watched the video and it cut off right after that statement. He probably follows that up immediately with, "Only joking! That's the reflection from the telescope!"halfwise wrote:He's obviously joking around. And now there was nothing but the roofs of houses, sweeping along like a great torrent of stones and rocks. Chimney-pots fell, and tiles flew from the roofs..."

So would this be another member of the Kuiper belt? That phrase doesn't show up in the article but it's what it sounds like to me (as a layman, of course).
