Re: The New Catchat Thread [2]
Somebody to scratch places you can't reach is worth a lot. We've only got maybe 5% of our body we can't reach. With cats it's maybe 25%, with dogs more like 50%. I wonder if these ratios have anything to do with how accommodating a pet is to being stroked?
It all falls apart when applying this calculation to cows, though. Mebbe because our attempts to scratch feel more like tickles to them.

It's a he, four years old this year, did have a twin brother but he was hit and killed by a car about a year ago he's grown quite trusting and affectionate of me now, but when he wants to, and even then only on his terms
Our dog will be 14 next year and is starting to get a bit stiff and grey, but she's in really good health and her hearing is as sharp as ever, she's always been a very loving pet...but loves her sleep and food more

FWIW the itchy spot on a cow is the tender spot on the back side of the poll (bump on top of head). If you're on familiar terms they'll come over and cock their heads expectantly, waiting to be scratched. Don't make the mistake of grabbing for strange bovine's poll though. It can go horribly wrong....

Re: The New Catchat Thread [2]
How can it be so clear just looking in a dog's eyes that they are thinking "I'm in your world" while looking in a cat's eyes they are thinking "You're in my world"?
I think it may be the slightly unfocused look cats use when looking in your direction, as if to say "you're there but peripheral".

Re: The New Catchat Thread [2]
Just saw those cat pictures from a few months ago. Those are great. The video of cats all stacked on top of each other is awesome.

Re: The New Catchat Thread [2]
Though I don't see what's so bad about having a cat on kitchen counters. Better than shedding on the sofa which is hard to get off.

Looks like that cat has a flourescent light, which I wouldn't think would produce enough heat to attract him.
