I liked Merlin more or less- yeah the writing was a bit up and down but apart form him getting to play old Merlin it was hardly a show that stretched its actors- whereas Sherlock and Who do.

OI also thought it ended way too soon- Arthur is barely on the throne before its over- he'd hardly become a legend as the most famous King ever with a rule so bloody short.

Well perhaps he did really awesome things during the years they just skiped?

And he didnt have sex with Morgana- ok maybe teatime tv incest is tricky- but hey its a central part of the legend.

And Merlin should be trapped too CC, either in a tree or in the crystal cave (depending which legend) but either way he is supposed to be trapped somewhere by Morgana.

I thought it was Morgause who was Mordred's mother? They made the Mordred and Arthur thing into a father/son-relationship. (Conveniently forgetting the very angry little-Mordred from the first seasons.)
The black knight might be that zombie knight that was Ygrains brother or whatever, when Exalibur is made.
He was trapped in the crystal cave by Morgana for a short while.
And who needs hot lassies when we've got hot laddies.

I remember reading that part of the story in Marion Zimmer Bradley's The Mists of Avalon when I was about 11 or 12 years old. My mom gave the book to me without ever having read it herself and it blew my prepubescent mind.

Yeah she seduces Merlin into teaching her the magic, then uses it to disguise herself as Guinevere, has sex with Arthur and eventually that produces Mordred who then grows up to challenge Arthur to the throne.
And she uses Merlins magic against him to trap him in the crystal cave (or a tree in the welsh version) and Arthur and his knights are buried in a barrow on Avalon along with the round table until the country needs them again- youd think the Tory-lib pact would have woken them up by now.

They are actually buried under Alderley Edge.

Nah, they are in Scotland of course- after all Edinburgh has Arthur's Seat.
Besides the Round Table is in King's Knot, in Striling (the old capital, although not the most ancient capital-that'd be Dunadd, home to the Dalreida, the People of the Light-elves no less!(sort of).

Come on, he is clearly Scottish- just a few details got changed in the retelling.
Merlin is clearly a buckie brewing wizard who set Arthur up to go off on a mad quest to find a magic buckie cup.
The round table is only round because its the perfect shape for drinking at whilst minimizing the potential for a "did you spill my drink" confrontation. You dont bump elbows at a round table- thats why pub tables are round.

And who but a Scottish King would have been tight enough in the first place to put their sword in a stone rather than let anyone else get their hands on it?
