I actually prefer the Beethoven piano sonatas to his symphonies. It may be because I don't have to sit around while an incredible piece of music is ruined by endless monotonous chord thumping at the end.
but yeah, the Pathetique is amazing.

You mean you don't like the ending of the fifth symphony? Plus there's plenty of chord thumping in the piano sonatas.
But I guess the sonatas are a lot more intimate, especially when you consider Beethoven composing them, pounding at the keyboard (no doubt breaking strings) trying to hear his music on the instrument.

Somehow, whenever I think of Beethoven sonatas these days, I end up thinking of this.

Re: Music [3]
The main body of the song has a 3/4 feel and is pitched halfway between the keys of E minor and E-flat minor, possibly to accommodate the tuning of the harpsichord. The instrumental introduction, in (a very flat) B minor, is unconventional. The keyboard vamps in 3/4 while the harpsichord overlays that in 6/8 and every fourth bar is in 4/4.
And who can resist a harpsichord?

Aw yes, there was the endless chord thumping I was complaining about. Dudley Moore was an incomparable genius in more ways than one.

The world definitely misses musical comedy like this.

I remember chris63 posting "Peaches" on here years ago, which inspired me to watch Sexy Beast. I loved that but the song itself is awesome too.

Re: Music [3]
Some really interesting comments, I thought.
http://pitchfork.com/news/61280-tame-impalas-kevin-parker-discusses-whether-or-not-music-should-be-free/"For me, it just shows that it's not really about how much you pay for it or even whether or not it's physical—it can still have the same effect on you. I'm not really sure what that says about artists making money in the future. Like, obviously artists need to make money and stuff like that, but if you do something good or if you make good art or make good stuff, the wealth will find you in some way. Not to be kind of overly spiritual about it, but it's not the kind of thing that's worth complaining about."
"I used to download music illegally. Everyone has. No one is innocent. Everyone has done that. If someone says, 'Hey man, I love your album, it really got me through a breakup, but I downloaded it for free,' I'll be like, 'Good! That's good!' Maybe he didn't have the money for the album, but if he still listened to it and it's an important part of his life, that's all I can ask for. I don't want his twenty bucks."
