I started some the other evening and it is already better than Jackson's. Basically I'm taking everything I learned doing theater and small stage productions and going from there. I may not have Boyens scriptwriting 101 degree ,that she must wipe her ass with daily, but I have always had a rather large imagination and been looking for a creative output for it. Why not this. Can't be any worse than Peter Jackson steaming pile of shit trilogy
I mean, enclosing the Hobbit story within a modern-day Oxford setting and having Tolkien begin reading it sounds like an awful Disney adaptation, so let's not hyperbole the Hobbit trilogy into "steaming pile of shit."
The narration approach is just the opposite of "historical realism" in my mind.
Hello Forest Chris It feels so comforting to "hear your voices once more
Sinister. do I know you or are you really new?
I know I am not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but I cant figure out why you are so angry toward Peter.
We are all so different and he has chosen a certain way of doing JRR.a work That is how he did it. We can all criticize but in the end would we have done any better? Would our body of work not be criticized also
I was disappointed in some. but all in all he made the books come alive and give me an essence of the grandeur and fairy like stories I am very grateful for that

How fun that you are digging back and reading old posts, Leelee!
Sinister is somewhat new, having appeared a few years ago, but has since vanished - for over a year now.
It's a good point that for all our complaining and jumping up and down over this point or that, the fact is that any of us would have done an amateurish job by definition. Peter Jackson had several movies under his belt before he began Lord of the Rings. And for the Hobbit, it was a rush job, not entirely under his control since Del Toro had to pull out before real production began. Since learning that I've been gentler with PJ's Hobbit, though I don't feel like watching it again, really.

Re: The Hobbit animated
I coulda done a better job...
I'd have...
Filmed the battles, but no more,
Forged three Elven Rings, not four!
Tolkienized the Elvish back!
Snubbed the holly-wooden hacks!
Writ characters we recognize,
Avoided lies!
I'd have...
Given Findel overtime,
Maybe writ some needless rhyme!
Got in early, got out late (possibly my Arwen date),
Digressed a bit on Elvish fate.
Bought Alan for a lesser fee,
And Ents who looked much less like trees!
I'd have...
Cast an Elf with normal glow,
To Boyens give the heave and ho!
Grown a grass that Hobbits grow!
Hired an older Fro plus do!
Just for starters, but, you know.

Re: The Hobbit animated
Yeah, what did happen to Sinister? I 'knew' him (well, his username) from that Old Hobbit Movie forum ('Bree' as it was called here?) and TORn before I registered here, he was pretty active three or four years ago (how time flies...)...and never one to shirk from his opinions on The Hobbit Trilogy...

Well he was in hospital for a bit with surgery, right? And then he got out and was... well working on scripts and his music and such I think.

Whatever Sinister is doing these days I hope its going well & he's happy. I kinda liked his moments of bombastic outrage Hope he is well & healthy also.

{{if you mean the red letters in my signature- then they come from Pure Publications, who make Forumshire's No1 occasional newspaper The News of the Pure.
