Re: lingonberry pickers
I'm glad to see a return of this story! All is forgiven, Blue. A fitting way to mark your post-aversary if I may say so myself.
I think the time you took with the trip up north was well-spent, and it's making this section more enjoyable. Hope to see some more soon if you feel up to it.

Re: lingonberry pickers
Yeah, when I picked this up again it was kind of because I think the stuff that's coming up can be pretty funny. So, I'm glad you're reading and enjoying it.
And the next part will feature some actual troll hunting. I only have the bare bones of that written though. And it might get a bt long So, we'll see when.

When I get a chance I'll tackle this, Blue. I hadn't noticed this before. Bit busy at moment with a course I'm doing, but seems reports are good, so I'll put this on my list. Carry on!

I think I'll leave judging it's quality up to others, but I would certainly be very interested to hear what you make of it.

It'll be a full length season ending episode.
How did you like your reintroduction, by the way?

I assume that since you have American characters in a Fjordian story you will show proper respect to the doctrine of American exceptionalism.
Re: lingonberry pickers
Mmm, it might be reflected in the story.

Though I seem to be turning into George RR Martin a bit here. Soon I'll be holding panels, and talks about my work.
Perhaps more writing, less talking?

Re: lingonberry pickers
So, I did do some writing on this over the weekend. But for some reason I ended up working on the ending, and not the next part..
I did have this mostly finished from ages ago though, and it kind of takes place around the same time as the part I'm working on so I did a quick write up of that. (It's more Americans, I'm affaid. )
I did have this mostly finished from ages ago though, and it kind of takes place around the same time as the part I'm working on so I did a quick write up of that. (It's more Americans, I'm affaid. )
Part 13 wrote:"A real waste." David finished as they got off the buss in the city center."Sometimes I wonder why I ever agreed to go to this God forsaken country."
"Oh, I don't know. I think it's rather nice." Eldo said genially.
"Nice? There wasn't even a mini-bar in the room. Have you ever heard of something like that?"
"I don't think it's unheard of," Eldo said carefully. "Anyway, shouldn't we be focusing on the berry picking?"
"The what?"
"The be-rry pick-ing," Eldo said, as slowly and loudly as he dared. A group of northern fjordlandian girls walking past them giggled, Eldo shot them a confused look.
"You don't have to speak to me like that, I'm not deaf."
"Not very." Eldo said in a quiet voice to himself
"What?"
"Nothing.." Eldo said to the air.
"The observed effect though, Professor.. is.. certainly odd. Have you ferreted out the cause yet.?"
"No, it still seems to elude me. Have you heard of chaos thoery?"
"Butterflies, mountainsides, and all that?"
"Sure. That's one way of looking at it."
"Why?"
"It's involved somehow, I know it is. I just for the life of me can't grasp how... Well, I guess that's something we'll have to file away and let soak in the little grey cells. "
"Your quoting Poirot?"
"Belgian detective, fictional, most famous inhabitant of country, Belgium?"
"Um.. yes."
"Elementary, my dear Watson. "
"Sherlock Holmes, right?"
"Well, not really. It was never actually used in the books. They ejaculated wildly though. "
"They did what?"
"Ejaculated. Well, not in the biblical sense, of course. But, yes, quite a lot, and Watson twice as often as Holmes."
"Really? Well, he was a married man."
The two walked into the hotel lobby.
"Err.. this looks expensive Professor, right on the town square... "
"Two rooms please. " David said to the girl at the hotel desk.
"The embassy will just have to bear it." David said adressing Eldo. "It's not like I can do my job with my back the way it is. No, I need a proper bed. "
"What? Well, one will have to do. Can you bring in an extra bed. Great, thank you very much. Yes yes, we'll wait in the bar. "
"Professor, they did give me stric.. "
"I'll hear no more about it. Now, vodka martini shaken, not stirred. "
"Ah, James Bond, of course."
"No, that was my order." David said, giving the waitress an apologetic look before adressing Eldo again. "Should I order one for you too?"

Re: lingonberry pickers
"Err.. Professor," Eldo said a bit unsteadily. He still felt a bit dizzy form the first vodka martini, never mind the second and third the Professor had made appear in front of him in quick succession. "Sholdn't we get that report off to Halfwise at the embassy."
"What?!" David exclaimed. He seemed to have been lost in thoughts. About berries most likely Eldo thought. The Professor seldom talked about much else. Well, that and popular culture.. and astrology.. no astronomy, he quickly corrected himself. It wasn't good to make that mistake even in your own head in front of the Professor. "I thought we did that on the bus." David finished.
"That was yesterdays report. They specifically asked us for an arrival report from here."
"Well.." put his hands in front of his face in a Sherlockian steeple pose. "put this down. "Nothing to report. David.""
"Halfwise won't be happy?" Eldo asked cautiously.
"Who cares." David said. "It will serve that pencil pusher right."
"Pencil pusher?" Eldo asked.
"..demanding all these pointless reports." David went on not noticing.
"You should hear the things he calls you," Eldo finished under his breath.
"What? Speak up."
"Nothing."
There, now you've been mentioned twice.

Re: lingonberry pickers
I just hope the next part isn't six years in the making. No watching the New York Jets until you give us an update!
Re: lingonberry pickers
I'll try to get to it in not too long. (April 2016 at the latest, promise. ) Though I'm kind of thinking it'll be five shorter parts rather than one long one. Hmm..
And I'm putting in a five year gap..

Re: lingonberry pickers
So, I had a proper go at getting on with this story yesterday. And I'm almost halfway through the next part. That's with the current word count at 1156 words though, and the first half not even finished.
As such I might split this part into two. I'll see if I can finish upA Feast for Crows the first half of the next part and post it in not to long.

Re: lingonberry pickers
Well, as I'm safely away from all the action, I suppose the chances are pretty good that I'll survive the story.

You shouldn't say stuff like that to a writer.
