Well done team GB in the Olympics! Don't think we should have any right to be up there but I suppose the lottery funding that started in the 90s and ramped up in 2006 finally starting to make a real difference.
Now we need to get some quality back in the pool where team USA have been dominant for so long!!

Re: All things sporting [3]
SKOOOOOOOOOOL!!!! 3-0. Despite all the bad things that have been happening, our Vikings are soaring at the opening of this season.
Announcers at the end of the today's game blamed Carolina's loss on the "protests" in Charlotte.
I couldn't believe my ears. The audacity. The full fledged apologetics for Carolina on display.
Okay, 1. Those aren't protests, they're riots.
2. You can't even fucking acknowledge that we have one of the best defenses in the league?!?!?!
3. Oh, yeah, we've also got an amazing coach who can take lemons and make the best fucking lemonade you've ever tasted.
Maybe that's why your precious Panthers lost. Maybe it was also partly due to Cam Newton's cockiness.
Maybe you've completely underestimated the King in the North?
Skol, motherfuckers.

{{{ Bungo, you may have just single-handedly changed my understanding that Americans don't get the point of sport- its not just the winning or losing, its the making sure your rivals suffer for it either which way }}}

Seeing Cam Newton sacked 8 times was better than all the Christmas presents I've ever received.

Re: All things sporting [3]
Congrats Vikings and bungo!
The Ravens are 3-0 as well but we've been just scraping by against some pretty poor teams (Browns and Jags) so I'm still pretty nervous about the rest of the season.

Re: All things sporting [3]
Patriots 3-0 too. Only just caught up on what is going on... nice to see they beat Houston 27-0.
The games are on too late here... so hard to keep up!

Re: All things sporting [3]
There was an ad for the first International Series game of the season on tonight: Indy vs Jacksonville. It's a shame that so many of the London games involve the Jags though. I know there's some sort of agreement that the owners made but they're not exactly the best face the NFL could be presenting.
Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott were a joy to watch tonight. I'm actually feeling somewhat optimistic about the Cowboys' chances. Don't want to jinx it though.

Re: All things sporting [3]
I think the Jags are over so much as they were the ones considering moving the franchise to London.
Could have picked a better franchise I suppose but then they would be the only team in the country!

Re: All things sporting [3]
Fuck the NFL's new taunting rules. Seemingly any expression of excitement or satisfaction conducted within 10 yards of a player from the opposing team is now verboten.
Re: All things sporting [3]
Isn't the whole job of cheerleaders to taunt the opposing team? I suppose that's more than 10 yards away.

Re: All things sporting [3]
Bradford is doing way better than I thought he would this season. I hope Teddy Bridgewater is able to play by the start of next season but I'm happy for the Vikings and bungo that his injury didn't sink the team's chances as has sometimes happened in similar circumstances.
The week six Vikings-Eagles game should be a really good one, especially if both teams win again next week. Though as a Cowboys fan I'll be rooting extra hard for the Eagles to go down.

Love the taunting rules. Same as the celebration rules.. no choreographed dancing! Nope... that is an horrific offence to commit. Think of the children damn it!!

Re: All things sporting [3]
The Cowboys dominated the Bengals yesterday, much more than the scoreline suggests. And people have apparently settled on "Dak and Zeke" as a nickname for the two rookies powering the offense. It's been a helluva turnaround from last season so far.
Re: All things sporting [3]
Good win by the Cubs, 5-2 down in the 9th innings, came back to win 6-5.
