TheOneSlipprz.net
I just felt the need to start this thread as a public service to all the ruby-slippered fans of MGM's Wizard of Oz.
Thank Eru the writers had the vision to update that boring old classic children's book (now almost forgotten) to make it more thrilling on the screen, at the expense of the main themes. Good riddance to the Book I say!

Right on! Baum was just a silly goose writing for children. The movie was needed to give his work a reboot. He didn't even have Technicolor!

Yeah, right on Halfy. In the book - and, yes, I have a couple of copies which I haven't read! - every word was in black and white, I'm not colour blind you know! Well, at least it was black ink on white paper... It was like that book was written in code for Kaiser Bill and we know whose father he was (that's Adolf Hitler - but no one remembers that nowadays, do they! ) Thank Eru for Technicolour and writers who truly loved children and never lisened to cranberry farmers and their Bree-landish notions!
We need more sensible folk like you here, Halfy.

Re: TheOneSlipprz.net
One of the things I loved most about the MGM WoO was that the writers got rid of most of the traveling that Dorothy does in the book,
Instead they expanded the role of a some minor villains (the Wicked Witch of the West and the Winged Monkeys) so that somebody could be chasing Dorothy all the time rather that letting her explore Oz at her own pace.
It works great! Just like Azog and the Orcs!

You raise an interesting thing I noticed, Dave. PJ bastardised Tolkien, but by doing a very similar set of things, Fleming perfected Baum. Amazing really. I guess it's all in the wrist action.
{{Btw I think in Amarie's Adventures in Forumland - while unrelated in some ways - you'll find a few insights into the whole business of shoes. }}}

You know statements like that can sometimes dampen one's piquancy, Blue - and Dave - if I know him - hates people dampening his piquancies... Just saying....

For the record, we cranberry growers now have full control of the writers guild. You're welcome for the stoppage of Jim Carrey movies.
Great pics Bungo, you're my huckleberry.

Ah, you're a master at this I see. Unless you really thought Azog and the orcs worked great?
In which case I humbly appologize.

Well, my Latin is limited to certain religious texts. I know "cum" means "with" but that's it.
