Re: Should I read in this order?
I shouldn't buy that one? I should instead buy the three separate books?

Don't mind our Norc, she gets a bit excited at times.
The single book, as noted by a couple of people above, will be a pain to handle. The publisher was right to break them up for this reason alone. Buy the box set, whichever one you please, and be done with it.

Norc swears like others breath php- judge her on her actions- she has answered your queries and provided links to the editions she has- she has helped you out several times already.
At the end of the day its you who are buying the books- there is only so much advice can be given- you have all the information you need to make a decision- we cant make one for you.

Re: Should I read in this order?
You know Im not sure all this choice is a good thing.
I bought my first copy of FotR - 30 years to the day this Saturday coming I remember because it was Cowal Highland Games, and that's this weekend- although I had read it once and total fallen in love with before that, but it was a borrowed book and had to be reluctantly returned.
But as the pipe bands were marching past down the main street I nipped into the book shop saw they had LotR's and bugged my parents till they gave me the money to go buy it and shut up- I started reading before I was out the shop door.
I didn't have a choice which edition, there was no internet to go and look up a hundred different versions there was just the one available on the shelf- and you know what I think that was better, because I would have bought it if had been carved on stone tablets- it was the contents I was excited about and couldn't wait to get hold of, not some fancy cover, or illustration- I wanted the words.
Php no one is upset at you*- but there are only so many things can be said about which edition to buy- especially as its really up to you, what you can afford, what size of book you prefer, which covers you like or to go for an illustrated one or not.
Only you can know these things.
*edit add- ok Norc is upset at you!

GOOGLE! USE GOOGLE AND GOOGLE "ILLUTRATED THE HOBBIT BOOK ALAN LEE" ON AMAZON!
Re: Should I read in this order?
Php- the word 'this' in Ringdrottens post is the link- just click on the word. Easy thing to miss I find with the forums colour scheme, as it doesnt stand out very much.

Re: Should I read in this order?
I think you should stop worrying about which edition to buy and just go to the bookshop and buy LOTR of any edition. I suggest you read them. In order. then IF you like them buy a fancier version with illustrations or whatever you fancy. Only you can choose, nobody can decide for you. I suggest you go to a library get a free copy or the first edition you find in a store and read them. simple.

Re: Should I read in this order?
Ill stop asking. I'm set on buying the Mass Market. I already ordered the Fellowship on Wednesday the 21st ill order the others in about 2 weeks or so. No I'm not asking I'm just saying and honestly I don't think Mass Market like Del Ray are fancy. I got The Hobbit as Mass Market and its my first Tolkien book. I'm just saying.
I'm also very sorry to keep asking over and over again.

I can't wait until I get my FOTR book. It doesn't have tracking or delivery confirmation. I wish it did but its no big deal and it will come at anytime from August 28th-September 13th. So ill read that after The Hobbit.
