Summertime
Post about summer here! Things you love, places you go, stuff that just gets you in a summery mood. I'll start us off with some music.
Re: Summertime
I dont know if you have heard of Cafe del Mar, but they do a series of great chill out beach music.

Re: Summertime
Of those only the Mungo Jerry take on summer really captures it for me. And the 59th Street Bridge song and about half the Beatles....
Summer is tight turns in a hang glider just for the sensation of it, and jumps in a cool river, and dew spangled berries. It's long days and mint juleps and fluffy clouds.
Don't get enough of that now that I run two summer camps. But I usually have a chance to take kids to the beach, and body surf over and over down the length of the beach as the crosscurrent carries you from riptide flag to riptide flag.

Re: Summertime
You dont know annoying agony until youve got a few million midges coating you and all biting at once.
This is one of the main reasons I actualy prefer camping here in dec/Jan- cold you can fend off with with wise clothing and a well tended fire- theres nothing will stop the midges however.

Re: Summertime
Love this song ! summer to me is nights so warm you have the window open all night, early sunrise that smells of perfume, walking barefoot in the cool grass, & tons & tons of foreign students in gangs, backpacks to trip over, pushing in front of the bus queue & seagulls screaming & shitting on you !

I've heard that before Azriel, but not for a long time. I couldn't have told you who did it. Fun song!

Love the kitten picture.
Is winter better or worse than the crazy heat wave you guys had six months ago, though?

Re: Summertime
thats good news for us then cos we only like English people. Ozzies and Mericans we look on as cousins, but the Scottish we see as Rab C Nesbitt.

Re: Summertime
Fuck mosquitoes.
In related stories, we had a wasp get into the building last week. Fortunately I managed not to freak out in front of everyone but it sucked. Eventually someone swatted it down and then I jumped and stomped on it to make sure it was dead.
Have I mentioned that I'm afraid of bugs?

Re: Summertime
Yeah it's a fairly crippling phobia. A few years ago I would refuse to enter rooms if I saw bugs in there (even ones without stingers) which would impede my ability to do normal everyday things. Thankfully it's not that bad anymore.
