There's a lot more of this sort of stuff on commercial tv than the BBC (especially Murodch's Sky TV), the BBC at least tend to have the decency to put it all out of the way on it own channel, BBC3- which only starts broadcasting at 7pm- it covers repeats of popular BBC1 shows and this sort of rubbish.
In fairness to the BBC however you do also get BBC4 to ballance it out- tonight's schedule for example is-

Petty - That schedule doesn't look bad at all. I just wish these "reality" shows would all drop dead.

Eldo - If you haven't already, I'd recommend watching the documentary Jesus Camp.

A little outdated (2006) and the feeling of impending fundamentalist-evangelical-christian take over through the government isn't as prevalent today with the shifting demographics we've seen through the last two presidential elections, but I really think it could help you with your fundie impersonation! Actually, I credit the Internet with helping me beat a lot of the stereotypes I held about fundamentalist Christians since I wouldn't have met as many without it (based on where I live and the social circles I tend to move in). But yeah, some of their beliefs are pretty hard for me to wrap my mind around.

I've been seeing a lot of anti-Muslim internet comments today. I'd like to see those people try to voice how they really feel in public, and not hide behind the anonymity offered by the internet. Hopefully they'd be met with the same response the soldier gives in this video.

Growing up in rural Minnesota and attending undergrad in rural Wisconsin, I knew a lot of fundamentalist-evangelical Christians. It was a shock for me when I found out that someone I knew believed that the world was 6,000 years old. After that conversation I dared not ask any of my other friends, for fear of how many actually believed it. I also saw a lot of hypocrisy among my Christian friends, especially when it came to talking about others behind their backs (even people within our circle of friends), participating in sexual activity, etc.

2)anything prehistoric is unbelievably ancient.
Therefore:

To be fair, that article is pretty hyperbolic even by American standards. "Several hundred years old" would mean it doesn't even predate the arrival of the Spanish in Florida.

That's a cool find though, I would be over the moon if I discovered some old artifact like that, especially at the age of seven. Nod
