I'm not going to tell you who I am.....
You will have to use powers of deduction greater than the combined powers possesed by Sherlock Holmes, Colombo, Miss Marple, Horatio Kane and Mystery Inc.
You will never find out who I am.

Re: My untitled novel.
I have only read about half so far (good stuff too) but if it is you authoring Lance then my guesses were heading in the right direction (guided a bit by Mr Figg's shrewd guesses based on english spellings). If you'd put more geezeer types in there would have been a dead give a way! But I'm suprised there are no scenes set in a tanning salon (or does that bit come later!).

Are you using your arcane powers as a Moderator to read between the (encrypted) lines, Petty? How perfectly disgusting!

No just the arcane powers of my eyes Orwell, and buckie of course. Its definetly full of arcane powers. His first post on it was unencrypted- I'd never break an enctryption spell Orwell, never! Tis the life blood of sensible decent, private, conversation round here {{{what an idiot}} used only to communicate thoughts of the highest intellectual order.

Re: My untitled novel.
Hey lance is it you? Bloomin eck Our Kid! you naughty blighter!
anyway good work, you have many threads to tie up and characters to develop and thread into the narrative as a whole, I like the way you have varying types of people all with a story to tell, I like your two main characters Kate and Marshall, it would be nice to get more information as to their backgrounds, motivations and to get more of a sense of their personalities, quirks, that kind of thing. You started that with kate and her fear of flying, thats a good beginning and gives the reader some kind of empathy, its always nice if they are more human and not just cardboard cut out actionmen/women. Its also ok if the women are not all 'modern' and kick ass like is fashionable at the moment, as I think its a fad and will pass, unless she is a soldier. I think some of your strong points are the local details from your visits to those countries, it feels real and it shows. You can tell when someone has actually seen a particular landscape and tasted a particular local food.

Re: My untitled novel.
I dont know why you are all pointing at me?!?! I didn't say a thing!!
If I were to write a book then it may be along the lines of what are reading because I also read a lot of books of that nature.
Seriously....

Re: My untitled novel.
It seems my flawless facade has been shattered... nice that people have taken time to read it. Thanks!
Mrs Figg - that was one of my intentions, to go back and flesh out some of the characters and scenes a little more once I have the main bones of the story down and flowing.
I have also intentionally tried to keep one part of it (Kate) a little faster paced and the other (Marshall) a little more cerebral with any action pieces to try and set up that state of mind the character is in rather than for the thrill factor.
I am hoping that is how it comes across already and that I can amplify those thoughts and feelings when I come back round to revising it.

This is the downside of having so many creative folk here -- it's hard to keep up! {{{Note to self: add to list of 'things to do come vacation time'... }}}

Re: My untitled novel.
Jubilee Weekend? how does that make you busy? unless you are Head Bunting Putter Upper and Jam Sandwich Maker at the neigbourhood street party.

Avoiding the wall to wall coverage has been quite time consuming for me. 'oh look anoher bloody boat and only 10 more hours to go'.

Re: My untitled novel.
Mrs Figg - other half decided that it would be fun to have a little jubilee party on saturday so had people round from middle of the day... also have half a kitchen at the moment so had lots of tidying up to do and food preparation was exceedingly difficult!!
Sunday - we had other halfs brother round doing tiling and was helping with that for a good chunk of the day.
Monday - I can honestly say I have no idea what happened on Monday.... and I dont drink (sorry Petty... hope that didnt case your eyes to bleed) so no excuse as to why I dont remember Monday happening.
Tuesday - Kids at home, spent most of the day out to entertain them.

Re: My untitled novel.
Not sure what I have done with it then as can't find anything about it anywhere!!!!
Re: My untitled novel.
Mrs Figg - you will be pleased to know I have written several chapters since my last posting and that there has also been a brief romantic suggestion... although quickly brushed aside due to circumstances!
Unfortuantely, I am not going to put any more up until at least after I have finished my first draft. I think that as characters develop when I am writing, some of the earlier stuff doesnt make sense any more (or makes less sense).
