Anyone gonna watch Lilyhammer?

The US premier is today. Dunno much more than that x)

I just found a trailer for this on YouTube and it looks like it has a lot of potential. My family has been discussing the prospect of getting NetFlix (which is sponsoring the show in the U.S.) and this seems like another reason to go for it to me. If I get a chance to watch it I'll share my thoughts.

It will give you a unique insight in the Fjordlandian (well, wrong-side-of-the-mountains inlandian) culture and traditions. Just tell your mom it's educational!

I signed up for NetFlix (first month free, how could I resist? ) and watched the first several episodes of Lilyhammer tonight. It was kinda silly at times but I laughed consistently throughout and enjoyed watching it. NetFlix already has the rest of the first season so I'll try to get through them over the next few weeks. All in all a really fun show that came out of nowhere for me. I'd never heard of it before it came up on this forum.

Glad you liked it. I have only seen the first episode myself, but I plan to see the others too. Very silly and funny stuff.

There is also going to be an american version of "Dag" on Fox. It's a dark comedy, Dag is a couples counselor who believes it is best to be alone. Sorry to say I haven't seen any episodes of this, but people seem to like it. Perhaps the Americans will too.

Dag sounds like an awesome show, my friend loves the series and I believe her when she says it is funny ^^

One of the things I like about the show so far is that each episode builds on the preceding ones. They're all self-contained to some extent but each picks up where the previous episode left off and the characters develop continuously (so far anyway). I tend to like more coherent shows like that so it's a nice touch for me.

Surprisingly, yes, they have the first five seasons of NuWho (starting with Eccleston and going through Smith's first season) available online! They probably have more on DVD but that's an additional fee.

I caught the end of Lilyhammer's first season tonight. It was a lot of fun, if also kind of sad at places. I particularly liked that

I've only seen episode 4 so far. (But I had to sneak a peak at your spoiler.) It is a quite truthful, honest series though exaggerated for comedy of course. Got to love Geir-Elvis though.

Christwire is no more "genuine reporting" than The Onion or The Daily Show. If you liked this, try Landover Baptist too.

Yes, it's satire. They're just very serious about staying in character, even when talking about "accusations" that they're satirical.

Sorry from outside of America its hard to tell when the intelligent ones are taking the piss out of the others and when its genuine!

Actually, some Americans struggle with that too. Christwire pops up in the news from time to time when (supposedly) legitimate journalists mistake Christwire for an actual Christian organization, to hilarious results.
