Well, regardless of whether or not the Hill he passed was in fact the residence of Bilbo Baggins or just a metaphor for his transition to geezerdom, are beloved Pettytyrant is now 40 years old! cheers Happy birthday, Petty; may your Blood Alcohol Content never lessen (I'm told this is a proper birthday wish in certain parts of Scotsdale and is considered quite respectful). Oh dear, in addition to Petty's traditional crabbitness, we will also have the crabbitness brought on by his Geezerdom!

I mean, a very happy birthday, Petty! Very Happy

I think all this talk of sporrans, limp or taut, is ridiculous. As if one could gauge the anciently venerable age of an ancient fourty year old Scotshobbit by the sag or stiffness of his sporran! Rolling Eyes

Who says his sporran's limpy,
or lumpy, or erect like a pole?
Who says his kilt is shortish
and he looks like Twiggy in a mini?

Who says his legs are hairy
and hardly ever shorn or shaved?
Who says his mother was a Haggis
and his Dad an Irish hobbit named Finney?

Who says his face is haggard
and no more comely than a goat's?
Who says his chest is adorned
with scented oils and rose petals pink?

Who says his eyes are sunken
due to too many flagons-worth?
Who says his habbits are truly vulgar?
Is that what all Forumshirers truly think?

Yes, WE do!
It's why why we love that ancient wizened Scotshobbit!
Very Happy

Umm thankyou all, I think. (Over the hill indeed! Evil or Very Mad )

And my sporran is always taut for you Mirabella- that was a very, thoughtful Embarassed , birthday present.
And don't worry Baingil upon turning 40 Scots are traditionally presented with an extra sturdy crabbit meter to deal with any increase brought about by age.
Of course I am now considered Buckie-Wise as the average Scot is dead from liver failure and heart disease by 40- not sure why, poor souls probably not getting enough buckie, chips and deep fried battered pizza down them I imagine.
Now I'm off to celebrate, where did I put my buckie and that battered fried mars bar? drunken drunken Aha there it is;

Lovely. drunken drunken Just needs a splash of tomato ketchup. Nod

Congratulations, Petty Smile It saddens me to hear that most Scotshobbits don't live to drink their 40th birthday buckie, but I'm glad you did! Since I can't physically give you a birthday present, please accept these images of a couple of brews you enjoy, and my favourite version of our favourite song Wink
