Re: Celebrity Fans?
Now, Mr Wobbit, shameless self-promotion has never been the vogue in Forumshire. I cite The Hobwit and Wholesome Tales on the Fiction Threads as evidence of people here not promoting themselves. I mean, if I was to mention The Hobwit or Wholesome Tales with the single intention of letting people know about them, I would be guilty of manifest self-promotion, and I refuse to do so. It would be as bad as Mr Tyrant mentioning "Home", which, of course, would be reprehensible of him to do! And if Squatch were to mention her tale of a most disobedient child, it would be worse. In fact, I'm now asking people to forget I mentioned The Hobwit or Wholesome Tales at all, for it's only proper I not mention them (that's The Hobwit and Wholesome Tales, I mean).

Re: Celebrity Fans?
Yes, of course, Odo. You are always properly ashamed when you self-promote, right?

Wonderful choices, Ally! I'm feeling all nostalgic. Actually, it's been so long it's like they're new again....

Re: Celebrity Fans?
I heard "Ramble On" live a couple of weeks ago, Although since Robert Plant is quite old, it wasn't anything like it used to be But it was still AWESOME!!! He also played Misty Mountain Hop, and he only played a few Zepplin songs, so I thought it lucky that 2 of them were LOTR related!

Rub it in, why don't you, Tin!
I remember when Zeppelin played a live show in 2007 and everyone was saying they'd go on tour. I was disappointed when they said they wouldn't, not that I'd probably have been able to afford tickets anyway.

Re: Celebrity Fans?
That couldn't be Eldo, Jimmy Page wouldn't be there! And I'm not sure when the band started, but Robert Plant has been solo for a while, or with the "Band of Joy"

Re: Celebrity Fans?
Page and Planet have toured together for years as, well, Page and Plant but they've only played with John Paul Jones a couple of times over the years since the band broke up.
Re: Celebrity Fans?
???????? Isn't Jimmy Page dead?

Re: Celebrity Fans?
Not that I know of. I remember seeing him perform live at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 (as part of the delegation from London as the next Summer Olympic city) and he starred in a rockumentary with The Edge and Jack White in 2009. I haven't heard of him since then but I imagine that him dying would be fairly big news insofar as "entertainment news" is concerned.
Are you thinking of John Bonham? He died back in 1980, causing the break-up of the band, though his son occasionally plays live shows with the surviving members (like in 2007).

Re: Celebrity Fans?
hmmmm... I guess so, but I always thought that he ODed...hmmm, I'll have to ask the folks, they're bigger Zeppelin fans than me.

Re: Celebrity Fans?
Frankly, I'm a little surprised he never OD'd given all the drugs he did, though not as surprised as I am by the continued survival of Keith Richards and Ozzy Osbourne.
Re: Celebrity Fans?
I have a theory Ozzy has been dead for years but his brain is so rewired an fried by drugs it hasn't cottoned on yet.

This is pretty much par for the course on Forumshire.
So that's what you called norcing before norcing.
I think I prefer norcing.

Re: Celebrity Fans?
I've noticed in both The Stand (which I've seen referred to as an American LOTR) and 11/22/63 several references to LOTR, so I assume Stephen King is a fan, has he acknowledged Tolkien's writing as an inspiration at all?
