Watching Obi Wan Kenobi on Disney plus. Everyone was saying how great it was and I was thinking really. I thought it was quite lame. Now the real truth seems to be coming out and it seems I'm not the only one.

I normally agree with Critical Drinker about his movie critiques, but his followers are borderline incel and he always reserves his worst criticism for female characters. The bile and hatred shown to Amber Heard was disturbing, so I unsubscribed.

it seems she and Johnny were both flying off the handle. They should just even up their settlement money and call it done: they each won a court case...time to pack it in and go home.

They both seem like highly unpleasant characters, and stupid too, with their egos involved it was a disaster for both. She is an unsympathetic person but the vile hatred shown to her is just mass revenge for #MeToo.

Haha, what a visually splendid trailer!
Those poor drummers are gonna have killer headaches after all that.
They totally ripped that guy rising out of the black goo from Dune.
This is a video game though, not a show. Do you play video games halfy?

We had gray-hairs playing Lord of the Rings Online. Any generation can enjoy some computer gaming now and then.

{ Well I'm no spring chicken and been a gamer since the 70's. Which does lend the advantage of appreciation to modern gaming- when Im wandering around a fully realised world in VR its all the more impressive when you can personally remember cutting edge graphics being pong. }}

Re: Star Wars [3]
I never went beyond tanks shooting at each other. The problem is that when reality began to creep in two things happened as well:
1. The focus shifted to exploration and shooting monsters, rather than strategy and skill
2. You had to start keeping your computer up to date.
Both of those have been largely mitigated in the last decade or so, but they had already lost me.

Re: Star Wars [3]
{{ As someone who has been there since it started I can say that your point 1 doesn't make a lick of sense I'm afraid. It'd be like saying film has shifted to only making Marvel films- theres a lot of them but it'd be mad to say it was all the films being made. Probably the first mass commercially popular game was space invaders, which requires both strategy and skill and is about shooting monsters, well aliens. There are entire genres of gaming dedicated to strategy games these days, too many to even begin to list, literally hundreds if not thousands of them.

Space invaders is VERY early. I'm talking about what came a decade or so later. The early games were good. The later D&D type games, naw. Got no interest in playing Tomb Raider.

Re: Star Wars [3]
{{ Dunno about that Forest- some of my all time favourite games are retro, or never had great graphics to start with- gameplay is always king.
Halfy then your talking the 80's- in the US thats the era of Nintendo really, Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Gauntlet and the like - well it was in America where games still largely sucked and were simple and on crappy consoles like the NES and no real competition.
Fortunately in the UK it was the golden era of the home micro and we had many systems, Spectrums, Amstrads, BBC Micros, Commodore 64 and more and we got things like Elite, Populous and Jet Set Willy and Manic Miner (try getting off just the first screen in manic miner and tell me it doesnt take skill! https://www.retrogames.cz/play_526-DOS.php?language=EN ), pilot a ship in Elite into a space station, manually matching the station rotation in simulated Newtonian physics and tell me it doesnt need skill!
that 40 years later it looks like this now I dont see as a problem, gives you great appreciation for where things have come from and where they are now.
(skip to 1.55 for docking)
And you do know Tomb raider is from the 90's? Hardly modern gaming! }}

Re: Star Wars [3]
Yes, but Tomb Raider and its ilk is when I tuned out. Actually tuned out a decade before with super mario brothers (egad but that's a travesty in every sense - just horrid), but when graphics at least finally got good, we still got Tomb Raider and everything exactly like it. Nope, no reason to do video games after the 70's as far as I could see. If they got better I was already checked out. The few good ones were never popular.

Re: Star Wars [3]
What does everyone think of Obi-Wan now it is done?
Also, I agree with a lot of what Critical Drinker says... but not all. He seems to think LotR trilogy is perfect and I definitely don't agree with him in that.
He also seems to pick out "the message" a lot more than I think it is actually there. Unfortunately it is mostly there so he tends to be right.

{{Um, games outsell all other entertainment forms including film and tv. If your judging solely on popularity then games are the single most popular form of entertainment on the planet, in history.
Lance- seen first 3 eps so far, and so far thought it was pretty decent- nothing earthshattering nothing offensive either. As to Critical Drinker, he needs to check his buckie mix these days as Ive rather gone off him as he has got more ranty and far less objective or even critical for that matter. Might have to change his name to the Not Very Critical Whiner. }}

Re: Star Wars [3]
I'm talking about game popularity relative to other games. It's like rap music: back in the day the worst stuff rose to the top. Don't have any clue about now since I stopped paying attention long ago.
I'll eventually get a one month subscription to Disney plus and binge watch Boba Fett, Mandalorian, and now Obi-Wan.

{{ I dont think thats generally true of games. Unlike music, tv or even film games are a much larger time investment- 100's of hours in some cases. Gameplay rules, bad games dont generally last.
As someone whose played games pretty much their whole life Id say, without any doubt that games have only got better and more refined over the years, not worse. }}
