{{{I agree. Blue Velvet is excellent, well worth a watch. And more young Kyle for you Norc I'm also a fan of Mulholland Drive and the Straight Story, as well as The Elephant Man. All great films in my view.}}}}

Re: Twin Peaks
Okay, I think I'm officially in love.. err.. with this show.. (lest anybody get any ideas..) I've seen the pilot and the first episode, and so far the way the show just oozes atmosphere really endears me to it, with just the right amount of humour. Sure, it's kinda cheesy, and certainly not perfect. But I'm really enjoying myself.. so far.
The major issue is I realy don't have the time to get into this properly right now. Like there's school, exams, beer, girls.. far to many things going on. I will make the time at some point though.

It's a good start. (Although, a bit unhelpful when you should be focusing on school. )

Really? You don't get distracted at all?
You're a lot less easily distracted than me then. (And this tv-show doesn't help.)

They had a twin peaks beer at the store. (Rema 1000) I only saw it at the register, so didn't have the chance to get any. Don't think it was branded, but still.

It gets bad after S1 because Lynch basically became uninvolved after that They tried ripping off his seemingly random/quirky style of work and it was terrible. Only Lynch knows Lynch.
You might like it simply because of closure and the fact that you're going in with low expectations, but it was never the same.

Season 2 is definitely a turn for the.. weird. (And considering what show we are talking about that's saying something.)

I wouldn't entirely agree with that- Lynch and Frost did come back for the final few episodes and got it back on track I would say giving series two a decent ending- Lynch himself directs the finale- but you do have to get through a lot of stuff thats not just out of control, but pointless in the end really-

- Spoiler:
- one eyed woman regressing and becoming super strong for reasons of possible aliens, whatever that storyline with James was and the MILF out of town, the pinemartin stuff, the pregnancy whose the father subplot

That's true. S2 definitely had its moments, even if narratively everything was out of place at that point.
- Season 2:
- The scene with the cousin dying going on while Cooper getting a meeting from the giant may be the best ending the show ever made. The episode where Leland gets caught as the murderer is great as-well. There were some other bits and pieces I remember liking, but they were too often trumped by the weird, parody-of-itself moments of the show.
Fire Walk With Me, in my opinion put everything back on track. It's hard to explain, but it just had everything that made the first season great, except way more intense. The relationship between Laura and her father is especially interesting to watch
- Spoiler:
- given that Leland had been raping her for the past months while possessed by Bob

Re: Twin Peaks
You know, I'm not really sure I recognize this show. The first season was all about hinting and setup, mixing amtosphere with mystery. The second season is almost showering you with information in comparison. Not that a whole lot of it is very telling. Still, I'd say mystery hinted at is a lot more interesting than mystery revealed. Particularily when the revelation only adds more layers to the story rather than actually revealing.
Not saying I don't like it. It's just a completely different appraoch to writing.

Re: Twin Peaks
Well.. that was an odd narrative choice..
- Spoiler:
To take the whole thing from the mystery it had been, to a Columbo esque drama. And why.. with so long to go..

Re: Twin Peaks
{{{I see it a bit like Forumshire Tales Blue- they had this story and these characters- and a setting- and beyond expectations everyone went nuts for them- but then the story ended (against Frost and Lynch's wishes incidentally, the studio were demanding they reveal the killer as they thought the audience wouldn't watch indefinitely with no answer- Lynch an Frost thought it was more interesting to layer on more and more questions- but they lost the argument to the suits) so what to do- well like a Forumshire tale you keep the setting and the characters and you tell a different story with them all, in a different style to a degree (at least till Lynch and Frosty got back in control for the ending of series 2) it might draw on previous tales but its not the same tale.
Think of it like that and it might help.
And whilst there is a lot of nonsense a lot of silly for the sake of it, weird for the sake of weird in there, there are some very good threads, as good as anything preceding it and maybe eclipsing it- owls, lodges, what the Bookhouse boys have been protecting the town against all these generations, what is it the Major does for the military? Where do Bob, the one-armed man and all those who lived above a convenience store together fit into it all? And what is it with the electricity in that town, all those red stop signs and flickering lights. Enjoy working out the answers- and I look forward to hearing them }}}
