I'm a cynic with a receding hairline who gets easily annoyed by children, so at times I feel closer to 48

Yep. The next big milestone that currently seems really far away for me is 25. And now you're almost at it...

Re: Happy Birthday Malick!!!
Out of curiosity, how old are you now, Elthir? Sometimes I picture a wise old Gandalf type, but more often than not I imagine a (unbearded) 30- or 40-something. Not sure why.
Re: Happy Birthday Malick!!!
Eldo, I usually give my age according to the Eldarin yéni. Thus I am in my first year of life. Also I'm not sure I age when I'm under a behorsement, and while some only last minutes... others can take up to one Sun-year or more.
In consideration that this is a thread to wish someone a happy birthday, I'll mention the name malickfan in the description below, which will otherwise be centered upon me. Physically speaking I can tell you this:
A) The voice in my head tells me that I am good looking. And arguing with "him" gets me nowhere.
B) I am short bearded (see C below), and currently wear hair (my own) at shoulder length (see footnote 1, "Hair atop the skull")
C) My beard is not the type once worn by Walker Texas Ranger for example.
I do not allow hair upon the neck, nor all the hair from the chin upwards to reach the lower lip. That is, I shave below the lower lip area so that only a thin middle line of hair strikes upward from the beard to the bottom lip... in other, other words, I create two "oval-ish shapes" below the left and right side of my lower lip, but I let a short beard exist below these. On each side of my mouth, though lower than the mouth itself, the hair is somewhat greyer down to the jawline.
C continued) As far as the upper lip goes I leave a slight space so that no hair interferes with the lip itself. Here the hair has some white in it, though in younger days both this and the chin section included a tinge of red, or brownish red, arguably the colour known as "russet" and possibly the desired colour with respect to the Elvish words russa (Quenya) and ros (Sindarin).
C part III) The hair on the jawline/cheek is kept short as well, and it too is lighter that the previously mentioned greyer areas -- which in case you've forgotten, see the description above starting with the second sentence under C (not "c continued" nor c "part III" but C, the sentence after the remark about Walker Texas Ranger).
Footnote 1, hair atop the skull
When a little older than malickfan's age a young child once remarked within my hearing: "Mommy that guy looks like [Angus] MacGyver" but I believe it was mostly the hairdo* which prompted this, and the jacket I was wearing at the time. My nose is certainly unlike MacGyver's nose in any case, and given that the child refused to concede my nose as being objectively superior, I found his comments, on the whole, dubious; and his mother to be unhelpful during the ensuing argument as well.
Footnote 1 to footnote 1
*Before "the MacGyver" hairdo I basically wore "the Conaway" from Taxi.
I realize it will prove impossible to date my exact age from any of this, but I was probably adopted anyway and don't really trust the records that were given to me.
Hmm... looking back at this post you likely just wanted a simple number. And probably none of C -- which in any case has proven to be incorrect and mostly inaccurate. I now realize that that was not me I was remembering but, in part, one of the characters from John Howe's cover illustration to Tolkien's Finn and Hengest.
So never mind most of C and most of C continued and most of C part III... see rather Finn and Hengest, JRR Tolkien, The Fragment and the Episode, edited by Alan Bliss, cover illustration by John Howe. Which character (not the one with the helm) looks older than me... I think.
I would jest edit this C section (or at least take some pain pills before reading it),,, Bbut as often wen I try a sudden behorsement makes edotinghhh orrr evn,,,typoring diffiffiiffiibult...srrory to... and thennn........tive...got2gowarknew.....whatnot!

Re: Happy Birthday Malick!!!
Bravo.
I will admit that the short beard and shoulder length hair made me start imagining you as Viggo Mortensen's Aragorn, though his beard at the end of ROTK might be too close to Walker, Texas Ranger.

Angus MacGyver had a Mullet, I don't think Aragorn would approve.

Re: Happy Birthday Malick!!!
Not in all seasons.
And looking at the photos I always had a lot more ear coverage than Angus in any of his seasons. And hey it was a child after all, and one with a poor sense of nose beauty too (imo)! Admittedly I had a similar colour and longish style with some "feathering" though (the hair not the nose).
I not only resisted the mullet... but bell bottom jeans too... until when I finally gave in (to the jeans not the mullet), there were close to going out of style anyway (back then).

I do indeed bow before the Queen, my fine nose pressed to the mud in recognition of its due place ("second place" the voice in my head tells me) here at Forumshire.
My apologies for speaking out of nose, my Queen.
