The Habbit
Hi! I know I've been gone for a while, but finals are in full swing and applying for internships, you know growing up basically, but I wrote a flash fiction piece for my workshop class that was kind of a parody of the Hobbit, maybe a bit more of a satirical fractured version... whatever, here it is for your reading pleasure!
The Habbit
Billy lived alone in a house made for a family of four. The house had been in the Boggins family for generations, and while familiar had bred comfort for a time, it now bred contempt. The suburbia had become stifling after 52 years.
The news would be on soon. He had nothing better to do than to watch it. He popped a frozen meal into the microwave. It was too late for him. He’d accepted that a while ago. He placed the steaming lasagna onto the side table in the living room. Something inside him stirred, something from the wild maternal side of his family tree Maybe he could go on a vacation. He’d go mountain climbing, rafting, maybe even go treasure hunting. But then he’d have to plan the trip, spend money, and above all leave his house. Adventures were terribly uncomfortable things. They’d make him late for dinner. He’d go on an adventure. One day. Maybe. No need to be hasty about it.
With the news blaring, Billy didn’t hear the knock on his door.
The grey old man peeked through the window and saw Billy in front of the TV. He shook his head.
“Sorry everyone, I had the wrong house it seems.”
The thirteen dwarves grumbled as Gandalf led them down the street to the next house.

This is sounding gooooooooooood Tin. Another Hobbit parody? But this is fresh and funny. You are now obliged - under wnritten Forumshire Law - to keep going.

Re: The Habbit
Well the only problem there is that it's a flash fiction piece, so that was the end of it! Billy Boggins didn't get to go on his adventure because he didn't answer the door, but Bilbo Baggins did. I could continue it though maybe, I'd have to figure out what happens of Billy first though!

Re: The Habbit
A quick quest is a good quest then (and a very good quest at that too, Tin! ), though in the end I guess it wasn't a quest all! Ol' Anon will no doubt be very very jealous.

I got to stop and read the stories more often (as the saying goes) - this is awesome, Tin, I love this kind of humour. Got any more writing up your sleeve?

Like all great writers, Tin diesn't need to write a lot to say a lot --- but it's time for something else, methinks.

Re: The Habbit
I definitely chuckled at this but I feel like the image of Gandalf turning away because he saw Billy watching TV can be considered rather profound in a lit-crit sort of way.
Thanks for posting this, Tin!
