Its Scotland Mrs Figg- Highlanders dont like Lowlanders, Lowlanders dont like Highlanders, east coast think the west are drunks, west coast think the east are stuck up gits and everyone thinks the islanders are weird. No ones knows what the islanders think as no on ever asks them.

When the Americans were stationed here they were always referred to as yanks- so I still occasionally use the term sometimes for humour, 'bloody Americans' doesnt somehow sound as funny as 'bloody yanks', and more often I use it affectionately as I have very happy memories of the 'yanks' and my yanky friends from childhood.

I've got nothing against the term but try calling someone from the South a yank and it would probably go over about as well as calling a Scotsman English (especially since there are a lot of Scottish-Americans settled in the South).

The term only refers to people from the Northeast, sometimes just New England, though I'm sure people stationed overseas got used to the expanded (incorrect ) usage.

why are the islanders weird? although I did know a girl from Shetland and it was like trying to talk to Minnie Caldwell with a Scottish accent, very sweet and like from the 1940s.

omg. the video.. i dunno what macaffee is and that was just weird.. and crazy.

Consider yourself lucky in your ignorance Norc.

Macafee is an antivirus program that for a long time when you bought a pc from any major retailer it was already installed on it.
Problem was it was more like malware- you only got a trial version- and when the trial ran out it bugged you with annoying popups to buy the full version. It did scans then warned you about innocuous programs to scare you into thinking you had virus's and so would pay to get rid of them.
And when you tried to uninstall it you discovered you couldnt- windows uninstaller cant get rid of it as it hides stuff deep in your registry.
Leaving you with either putting up with the pop ups for ever or paying up.

I got Norton well I did. there was a 60 days free thingie when I bought the compuder, and it ran out. so I just reboot or refresh the Whole thing back to factory wotsit, basically all your stuff gets deleted, and you get 60 more days free. But I have got so much stuff saved I cant do it, cos all my photos and files would be deleted.
