Ayup...

More Oscar shenanigans...

The Telegraph reports that a fan has re-edited all 3 Hobbit films into one 4 hour cut. Enjoy. It's not our Jason under another pseudonym is it ? and how'd whoever it is get BO5A before its been released on DVD ?

Nope not me. I dont have a cut of BOFA yet except a really bad quality cam in a cinema cut that is not for consumption but was just to block out for myself how it was likely to go- its on my skydrive for those with access who wish to see it.

Ayup Jason...

What do you think of someone being able to access and cut it ? there doesnt seem to be any mention of legal actions against this guy.

I am a little surprised at the lack of mention of any legal action- not for the fan edit bit but because it appears to include BOFA which isn't legally available yet.

There is a torrent of it in HD- I think its the 'for your consideration' Oscar voters version.

Good point Feanor, kinda weird The Telegraph actually reported it (though if you read the reviews/articles about TH trilogy it's very heavily biased against them anyway), I've seen lots of fan cuts posted elsewhere (IMDB, reddit, TORn etc) so it's a very common occurence regardless...

Yeah, I've seen mention of quite a few edits as well, but this guy seems to have pretty good publicity. Though I rolled my eyes hard at the article calling this the first Hobbit fan edit.

I've skimmed through the 3 hour 20m Fuzzypuzzle edit. Enjoyed all the cuts. And the rare addition like the beginning using an extended dvd cut so that the Shire is introduced briefly. It's a scene they did for who knows why where Bilbo sneaks out to do some shopping after being visited by Gandalf and is worried about seeing Gandalf again. It works well except Bilbo is looking around a bit and seems distracted.

So much useless stuff cut out. No goblin town wacky antics and no orcs chasing them to the trees. It's so annoying that he had to leave in the gold statue melting since Smaug is covered in gold when he flies out. And he cut out Bard using his kid as part of a bow.

It's too bad there aren't many extended scenes to use. I remember seeing an alternate scene in Mirkwood but that would be useless to use since it's all mostly green screen.

Sounds not dissimilar to my own, save I have Azog now playing Bolg turn up at the trees on fire bit (he begins chasing them after the mountains), though no fight with Thorin obviously. And I got round the gold Smaug thing with a bit of judicious editing.

I thought your cut would be fairly similar. I like that there's no Azog in this guys cut but I haven't watched the scenes to see if it works well or not. I also like that he put in Beorn meeting the company of dwarves from the extended cut even though it's when they're leaving his house.

I was very pessimistic but now a little hopeful that there is a very flawed but still ok Hobbit movie in there when it gets edited down. At least the Hobbit gets a better percentage of screen time now.

I changed this round quite a bit usinfg Ee material- in my edit they arrive at Beorns pursued by Bolg and co but you only hear Beorn roar- you never see him.
Then they go into his house, then they have the introduction to him and then spend the night- which is the first time you see the bear form.

You should pm me your email- my Hobbit edits are available to watch streaming or to download form my drive.

Thanks! I'll have to check to see if I still have access to your drive. I'm waiting for the memory of the Jackson version to fade a tiny bit before I watch any of the edits.
