Where are the appendices part 1-6
Hello,
I own both standard and extended edition versions of The Hobbit movies on DVD & Blu-Ray format and yet none of them have appendices part 1-6.
They start at Part 7. Why is this and where can I find parts 1-6?
Thanks

Re: Where are the appendices part 1-6
Hi shire_folk, welcome to Forumshire! Each of the LOTR movies had two discs worth of "Appendices" numbered one through six. The Hobbit's appendices begin with number seven since they were made after LOTR.
Re: Where are the appendices part 1-6
Well, that doesn't leave much for discussion here now.

And now there was nothing but the roofs of houses, sweeping along like a great torrent of stones and rocks. Chimney-pots fell, and tiles flew from the roofs..."

No worries, it's Forumshire - I'm sure we'll find something off topic to talk about

Yes, there bloody well IS.
The Hobbit comes before LotR! If they weren't bright enough to realize that when they made the first trilogy, the least they can do is label the Hobbit appendices with negative numbers, counting back to zero. Star Wars at least had the damn balls to re-number everything.
But would anyone have listened if we pointed this out to them? Humph, good luck with that.

Re: Where are the appendices part 1-6
I thought Jackson wanted people to watch the films chronologically?
With the pointless Frodo framing sequence, frequent rehasings of LOTR, and odd numbering of the appendices its going to be kinda confusing for new viewers (though Jackson being confused himself is probably qood enough excuse for some of the things in this trilogy...)

Just like a physicist!
And then I suppose a person is supposed to intuitively know that they're supposed to start with appendix #-2, and which direction and in what increments they're supposed to look for the next one? Clearly the right thing to do was to start the new series at ∝.

To be fair to PJ, he wanted to make The Hobbit first, but MGM wouldn't get on board in the '90s so he moved forward with LOTR. MGM owns part of the rights to The Hobbit, while Saul Zaentz owns the other part. Zaentz owns all the rights to LOTR, though, so they didn't need MGM's cooperation to make that trilogy. Once LOTR turned out to be a massive success, though, MGM was keen to get on board.

And I have yet to see a cut of that! When I inquired he claimed he never knew it was mine, it was too late to change the sign now, and if he paid me under the table eventually it would get out and we'd both be in hot water for fraud.
