Things that are making you crabbit!

Missing folk are making me crabbit! Where is Eldo these days? GB seems to have deserted us. Queen Tin didnt make the picnic and havent seen her about the place either. Poor old Ringdrotten is presumably stuck in military school still. Kafria pops by not like the old days. And whatever happened to Saradoc?

Your current cirucmstances explain your absence Ringdrotten- we appreciate you finding the time to drop by at all- hopefully they give you some sort of summer hols!

Apparently Verizon had a power outage today so we lost our Internet connection. According to the help line the connection probably wouldn't be restored until 5 AM tomorrow morning. Fortunately, however, they're about 12.5 hours early, which makes this both a crabbit and a non-crabbit post.

Today i was driving into my local village and thinking of the recent earthquakes, mortality and if i would be around next year to see the world, that kind of stream of consciouness stuff, when I drove past the house of a man who was standing at his front door, er sharpening his sythe, you know the one Death and Petty has. He looked me straight in the eyes with a lopsided grin, as if to say, 'funny you should mention it old Bean'.
I had a good old giggle.

There's a tornado warning in Maryland and while they usually miss us, there is a possibility that we will have our power knocked out. If that is the case it could be out for anywhere from a few hours to a week (I think they set that record last summer). Hopefully it won't happen at all but knowing my luck it's a possibility so I might not be able to come online for a while. Fingers crossed though.

Thanks Petty! We already cleared the yard and tied down everything that couldn't be brought inside, so we should be okay. There are still storm and flood warning coming out and some of them came really close but fortunately we've been okay so far. Hopefully it will quiet down completely soon.

Glad to hear you seem to be out of the path of harm Eldo.
I find it hard to concieve of living somewhere where this sort of natural immenent destruction is an annual event and not a horrible once or maybe twice in a lifetime experience.

I'm just glad I don't live in the Midwest. I'm actually pretty lucky where I live. The Midwest gets hit by really bad tornados regularly and the South gets a ton of hurricanes. While we occasionally have to worry about the fringes of those storms here, but vast majority don't come close. Still, I suppose it's more common then it is in some places. I take it there aren't a ton of massive storms in the UK?

Not really Eldo. Jan/Feb the winds get pretty blowy and you get galeforce and high winds and stuff but full on hurricanes are very rare-2 in my lifetime I can recall- tornados do happen but they tend be small and very localised and as most of Scotland is empty more often than not no one ever even sees them. And there has been one minor earth tremor from a small scale earthquake when I was about 14.
So not generally got to much to be concerned about compared it seems to many other places.
(We dont have any dangerous wildlife either- and we only have one poisnous snake, it'll hurt but isnt fatal, and its famously shy and all our spiders are a small managble size that cant do any harm at all uness you're a fly-but we get midges to make up for this!).

Halfwise- now I have an image of an ipod wearing jogger with a short lived, but very startled, expression on their face.

I'm pleased to report that the storms seemed to have passed without any damage here. The closest reported tornado was about 10 miles away but the most we had was some heavy thunder and lightning.
