Apps?
I was thinking of doing some coding. I am not doing much in my sparetime, so I thought I could try making an app for forumshire. Is there any interest for this?

Re: Apps?
Something that would make it easier to read on smartphone would be nice. Not sure what would need to be done to accomplish that.....

Re: Apps?
Ah, shame. I think there might be one aleady, but it's not very good. So an improvement would probably be very appreciated.

Re: Apps?
I will try to find another computer to use for compiling.

Re: Apps?
We don't have an app, but the mobile version of Forumotion sites isn't great (but the default version works well enough on smartphones with large screens). I don't know if it's possible to make an app for the site, though, since we don't have access to much on the back end.
Re: Apps?
Right. I had a script were I used the main version of the site, but when my laptop bluescreen'd I lost all of my saves...

If you're able and interested to put it back together, I'd be very curious to see what you came up with.
Re: Apps?
Would have to download and rewrite the source code every time you looked at another page, I guess. Strip it down to the bare essentials.

Ah, that was what I was thinking about then.
Yeah, it's terrible. For instance you have to go through every page of a thread to get to the last one to see a new post.

Re: Apps?
The mobile version is ok when I read large posts, f.eks the dr who thread after a new episode.
I have the 'View posts since last visit' page bookmarked on my phone. There is no 'mobile' version for that page, so I can use that to skip to the correct thread.

I have never knowingly, of willingly, used an app- a fact I am very proud of

Thats so smart!!
Re: Apps?
This is what the current mobile version looks like.
I'd like to see something similar in structure, but with the colors of the forum (green, light green, whatever they are), and an ability to go the newest posts in a thread.

Re: Apps?
I just tend to turn the mobile version off (you do that by clicking the downward point in the top right hand corner and choosing classic mode) and watching the forum in a normal browser, navigating as you would do on the computer.
It's quite handy with a little zooming.

Re: Apps?
I do the same thing, Blue, but a mobile site with better readability and functionality would be nice for when I'm somewhere with an iffy mobile connection. I've gotten pretty good at hitting the links I want with my fingers, but that was troublesome for a long time when using the default version.
Re: Apps?
It still sends me to someones user profile now and then, but I've gotten a lot better at it too.
All in the technique, really.
