Re: Comic con-hobbit panel

Re: Comic con-hobbit panel
http://instagram.com/p/q7k4tXvMQT/ <- benedict and andy serkis interview(-ish), doing gollum impersonations..
Re: Comic con-hobbit panel
not the hobbit again, but comic-con at least, and it is BCUmbs (shock!) but he does a Gollum voice and a Jar Jar Binks voice at the end
Re: Comic con-hobbit panel
Does Cumberbatch say that John Malkovich had been considered ("cast") for Smaug at one point?
Right at the beginning of the video he says, "And just... hearing a few other people who were cast... like John.. [quietly] Malkovich, which is really exciting."
I can't imagine anyone I would hate having in the Hobbit more than John Malkovich. My goodness I dislike that "actor."
Still, fun stuff, having Comic-con finally upon us!
"Cumberburning!"
Edit: OK never-mind, they were talking about this new Madagascar film.
Further Edit: All is forgotten about any Malkovich mentions: delightful interview Norc! They even got away from the "OK now I'm doing the serious actor-interview voice so respect my name-dropping" and had some great friendly banter.

Re: Comic con-hobbit panel
For the fun of it I guess!
If that's your main query it doesn't sound as though much crabbit was induced Petty?
For myself, I always get annoyed when Colbert mentions some bit of Tolkien lore that was shifted in the movie: it feels as though he is pretending nothing was wrong.
I mean, not to be pedantic, but we did not see the Battle of Dagorlad in the prologue of FotR. What we saw was the major events of the Battle of Dagorlad and the siege of Barad-dur all transplanted onto the slopes of Mt. Doom. It was a condensing of events that did not really make any sense if you think about it.
It was presented as the deciding and, for all we know, only major battle of that war. The numbers of combatants involved is huge. Why on earth, then, would Sauron have set the battle on Mt. Doom rather than outside of the Morannon? It is as though he simply opened the Black Gates and allowed the armies of the Last Alliance to march right on into Mordor, only challenging them to battle once they had reached the (in strategic military terms) nearly useless mountain.
These things are alright if simply left alone, but under much scrutiny the cuts and changes made for the sake of the movies can rankle.

Re: Comic con-hobbit panel
I was at Comic Con for a day. I didn't go to any of the panels though. I was just on the ground floor with all the booths. They had a big Smaug statue thing whose eyes lit up occasionally. I mostly was at other booths though. I saw the entire cast of game of thrones at the hotel except Khaleesi. I bought a real sword from the the floor, a reverse blade katana from Rurouni Kenshin. It was really fun.

There were a lot of Cosplayers too. One guy was a Combine security guard. He had the radio that made the exact same noise from the game

He'll almost certainly be in the framing scenes with Ian Holm in BOFA. Wasn't it already confirmed that Holm was returning?

It says noon Pacific / 3 PM Eastern, which means it'll premiere at 8 PM GMT. I probably won't be able to be online for it, so someone else will have to make a thread for it tomorrow.
Re: Comic con-hobbit panel
I just realized that this thread is apparently about a panel consisting of a humorous hobbit thief.
