Talking California watched this the other day- a sort of potted history of California from the beginning to present day, presented by the excellent Rich Hall, highly recommend it-

Re: Tales of Home [5]
time to share some pictures from my camping trip most of them are taking out of the car-window, so bear with me
dead trees either because of too many sheep/goats or those bloody worms..
then we walked up to a huge canyon where there is a suspension bridge one can bunjy jump from. the walk up was gorgeous, almost a bit himalayan because the roads (some of them) were old mining roads and were carefully prepped. I didn't use my phone to take photos of the bridge because it was a long way down i didn't want to lose it. I have some on my mom's camera, maybe i'll post them later on my blog or something.
i see now that the most "himalayan" bit of the road, i didn't take a picture of, but i think my mom did.. maybe on the blog later... maybe.
now for some stuff out the window of the car...
then we camped here for the night... although img the mosquitoes!! we went to bed around midnight and my mom and dad have the "sleeping area" of the caravan, the one that has a sort of door that can be closed and just a small air-vent-thing, while i slept in the main room on the couch with two large roof vents, in other words i got the most mosqs.. for about three hours i lay totally awake, exhausted, wanting to sleep, being tortoured by them. no literally tortured. i totally lost it around 3 in the morning. like, if they just stung and it itched like hell, i would be ok, but the sound!!!! i bet they aim for your ear! so i hid under the blanket, the only thing visible were my hands, forhead and nose (which ofcourse got at least a million bites).. the only thing was because it was a valley the night was hot (and bright goddammit) and i was kinda worked up, i sweatted like a pig. i complained, and my mom just hushed. around for she woke up because a fraction of what i had had leaked into their sleeping accommodation. when she realized the amount of mosquitoes that were inside, we made a quick and daring escape from that mosquito-hell. we were so thankful we didn't disconnect the caravan and that the dishes were done so we could just escape in less then half an hour. it was 4.30. i hadn't slept. so yeah.. then we drove to safety.
we saw moose, a frog, ptarmigan (?), a bird-baby, mice, a hare, lots of sheep, a dead fox-cub, and a damselfly. here are the moose.
then i ate this for dinner, if you're ever traveling in Norway, more spesifically the northern-Troms, even more spesifically Storslett in Nordreisa, you have to eat at the Bios-café, just off the main road, E6. best. food. ever. Mom had salted meat, but me and dad had lavvo-smoked reindeerfoccathia with lingonberry-cream and blueberry sauce/sirup/dressing/balsamico and the best feta-cheese i have ever tasted, local and it was HUGE. the bread wasn't dry which it often is, it was soaked in oil and yum. here's a picture:
i licked the plate clean and saved the best for last:
there were sami-shops almost everywhere (especially on Kvænangsfjellet (Kvænangs-mountain)) but this one was closed, because it was sunday. unfortunately i didn't take a picture when it was open. it had a stuffed reindeer and lots of cool stuff.
then we moved to a camping site for two days. that was lovely. Leopold was terrible concerned not to be left behind (which we never do, but still) so he sat in the car just to be sure.. the camping-place was really nice, everything looked like it did in the 60's (probably) and we had it almost all to our selves.
then we went to Kvænangsfjellet, big tourist attraction. we walked a fair bit up it though and made coffee and tea, ate chocolate and nuts and killed bugs. this time we remembered cups (porcelains ones because we are posh people lol) and look snow! that made leopold very happy as it was 22 degrees up there! and we are quite a lot of meters above sea level (see no trees)
you can see the E6 down below.
some hobbit holes
later i found where Petty keeps his buckie.
and also a pretty cool waterfall the rocks are really cool though (slate, shale, schist?).
and now for car window pictures
this place is the official most beautiful place in Norway.
i don't know why some of them ended up the wrong way, but just tilt your head

Stunning Norc- every time I thought Id found a fav picture Id scroll down and be amazed by another one- but in particular love the path through the wood, the waterfall, the one with all the foxglove in the foreground, but how the buggery did you find one of my international emergency buckie stashes- is nothing safe?!!!

I watched that from start to finish, it was good ! I like that Guy, Rich Hall, I liked his straightness Ive seen him on TV before & liked him. I really enjoy "the truth behind..." type of docu's & tv progs. I like it when people delve in & scrape away the glitz & glamour & reveal the true nature of things.

Gorgeous Norc! I'm beginning to understand why you nutball people are willing to endure 10 months of snow to live up there.

I love thunderstorms too we get them so rarely though, but because of this ridiculous heat-wave we've had lately, we had one a week ago. i sat on the veranda with an umbrella and my phone and waited for it, watching the clouds grow nearer, seeing lightening and then counting as they got nearer and nearer, and the thunder got louder and more violent tons of fun and then the rain! so heavy and so much (by our standards)!! my sister chased me inside eventually though..
Re: Tales of Home [5]
I went to my local fantasy festival, the photos are all horizontal because freaking GIMP wont save any of my modifications. sorry.
I got loads of photos but they are all like this.
