She would appear to be eternally happy: just the kind of dog one should have around.

It's the main character from an anime show called Gurren Lagann. I actually cosplayed as this guy at last year's Otakon, though he looks more impressive in drawn form. He's a good guy though, so don't worry.
As an amusing side-note, the flaming skull logo from the show won a Telegraph poll about how to best represent Wales in the Union Jack back in 2007.

Re: Tales of Home [5]
Was passing through town earlier and noticed the worlds last ocean going paddle steamer, The Waverley, was at the pier, so I grabbed a few pics. They turned out not bad I think, considering I took them out of a moving car (they might be quite big I didnt have time to check the camera settings before taking the snaps)-

When we were kids and swimming in the sea used to love it when the Waverley went by as the paddles make for completely unique waves you just dont get from a normal boat- great fun

Re: Tales of Home [5]
ok. So Ringo told me to say hello to you forumfolks from him He has a really good time on California at the moment. When he sent it they were he was sitting and enjoying a real american root beer (the translation might have broken down here..) in San Fransisco and they're doing their best at building centimeters around their abdoman with taco bell and everything that goes together with that the internet connection is poor so he's waiting to get home to post something here and in the meantime he wanted to let you all know he is ok. He also told me that he's been hiking in the mountains in Yosemite National Park and that the nature is wild and that he will post pictures when he gets home
Re: Tales of Home [5]
Nice!
Well, except for the Taco Bell part. But when in Rome...

Re: Tales of Home [5]
Good to hear Ringrotten is having a good time, I suspect his pics will be spectacular. When he tends to say he is hiking he isnt screwing about, probably half way up a mountain by now.
I love root beer, got a taste for it from the American when they were here (after I got over my crabbit that it wasn't actually a beer, bloody Americans ) and now the only root beer I can get costs a bloody fortune because it has to be imported

Re: Tales of Home [5]
Well the soft drink variety is certainly as you say, Petty. But you can make a very slightly alcoholic root beer as well (about .4% content. I read about it)
You could make it yourself if you were so inclined. You just need some sugar, water, baker's yeast, and some root beer extract! (Sassafras root extract, that is). Like this stuff: Root Beer Extract
You don't even need anything fancy, just a two liter plastic bottle can work. For example:
http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Root-Beer
Anyway, might be fun to try out sometime. Of course it'll taste different from the soft drink, but they're not exactly all that healthy anyway. Of course neither is accidentally growing some monstrous bacteria thanks to insufficient sterility of preparation items.

4% Thats not worth getting out my barrel for. Scottish tap water is more than 4%
And any bacteria that can survive in my alcohol ridden blood probably deserves to kill me- fair play to it

POINT FOUR! I breathe out a higher alcohol content than that I wouldn't give that to a bairn
If you count .4 as alcoholic it does kind of explain Budweiser though (or shandy as we call it).

Re: Tales of Home [5]
We woulda flippin' mailed you pop-tarts ages ago if you had just let us.
As for Taco Bell, as far as American junk food goes at least it has some wisp of flavor to it. That and KFC. Both are worthy choices if still behind the wheel on a road trip. But sitting in San Francisco of all places? Once you plant your butt in a place like that you better take advantage of the culinary offerings.
Taco Bell is not a culinary offering.

Pass my best along to Ringo if you get the chance. California is pretty cool. Shame he's not on the East Coast or I'd say we should arrange a Forumshire meet-up, especially if Halfy could be roused from his academic musings in NYC.
