Went for a walk with Nagual today, nice and warm, bit humid as it kept threatening to rain with heavy clouds, but fortunately they all passed by so was nice and sunny inbetween.

Heading for the woods-

Tales of Home [5] - Page 27 1_zps258b8543

The parts we were walking through are all natural forests and protected areas due the amount of different species of tree, in particular a type of oak, that occur here.
But there are areas of open spaces too-

Tales of Home [5] - Page 27 2_zps63b715cc

Not a bee or wasp, but a fairly large hover fly, on a thistle, our national emblem (the thistle, not the hover fly)-

Tales of Home [5] - Page 27 3_zps9d5c28ff

Where you get open spaces you get lots of ferns this time of year, come winter they go brown and die away, but right now they are tall and fill all the open areas on the lower hillsides and completely obscure the lay of the land-

Tales of Home [5] - Page 27 4_zpsbfa340aa

A moss clump-

Tales of Home [5] - Page 27 5_zpsd20464f1

The hills here are rich in iron ore, which is why there are iron age settlements here (we'll get to those shortly), even a perfunctory search of the rivers here will usually turn up iron ore slag, thrown away in the smelting by generations of smithies from the iron age on.
Its most obvious however in that it turns the water and stains the stones red.

We passed by one of the areas where people settled, starting in the neolithic, but fortunately I dont need to explain anything, the pics do it for me! -

Deep in the woods!

Yellow- couldn't tell what it was, too tall for buttercups so I am going for ragwort.

Tales of Home [5] - Page 27 15_zps928e020b

And if any of you ever visit this part of the world and take this particular walk you can also stop on the way back and take to a rowing boat for some relaxing trout fishing-

Here's a pic I snapped this weekend at Bud (that's 'Búd', not 'budd'). Not far from Molde.

Petty - the second and third water shots are really incredible! I've never seen rocks glow red like that.

Halfy......We had rocks like that due to a rich supply of iron in the water, When you drank it you could really taste the difference between that & tap water.

Yup its the iron seeping out the rocks, the water tastes brilliant.
And when you get strong sun light hitting it like it was then they almost start to glow they are so vivid.

Pretty good, though, um....the eyes should not be spookily florescent. Add in some darker greens and browns? Norc can show you how to do it, she does good eyes.

There you go : Norc, draw us some Ent eyes!

Coupleof pics.

Took this one last night about twenty to one in the morning.
Gets a bit Fjordian this time of year in that it never gets properly dark and the sun never fully sets, you just have a pink glow moving along the horizon for a few hours till it appears again.

Tales of Home [5] - Page 27 IMG_0722_zps65ba7202

Took this whilst down town earlier, sadly the photo doesn't do it justice, as where the light was hitting the water on the sand it looked like glittering silver-
